All About Pocket Knives

I have a chance to purchase this Case, Ladies Leg Pocket knife but it is in rough shape and without owning it I cannot clean it up for better photos of the tang stamp. Looks like BM 1097 or RM 097 ??

Any help as to its age and value would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to AAPK ! Your knife is a RM 1097 made 1920 - 1930 . The value in mint cond. Is approx. $600 , but in the cond. shown , I think that $100 +/- would be reasonable . The used cond. value given is my opinion only and it may be worth more to someone who is not too concerned with the condition .

I agree with Bob on all points. The RM stands for Red Mottled, the handle color. Some call it Christmas Tree. The 1 means it has 1 blade, and 097 is the pattern number, a large leg knife. Case made that pattern way back in the early days as well.
