April 2021 AAPK Monthly Knife Giveaway

Post by bestgear »

OK everybody fasten their seat belts as the gold-standard for the monthly giveaway is about to rise. This month KLJ77 (Mr. Ken Littlejohn) has donated a 1999 Buck 403 Big Sky Fixed Blade. This is a beautiful and now rare, fixed-blade full-tang knife. Your hands will love the black resin-impregnated Obechee wood handles (this was for the first original 403’s) on this 8 ½” knife with a 3 ¾” blade. Of course, she’s made here in the good old U.S. of A. and comes in the original Buck Box with original warranty papers and a black custom-made leather sheath. Good luck! on this one, she’s incredibly special and getting very rare!
Instructions for entering the giveaway...

Simply click here and select a number between 0 and 999.

You will have until April 30th (6:00 P.M. Eastern) to pick a number after which entries will not be considered. The winner will be determined by the Illinois State Lottery evening pick three drawing on April 30th. The individual closest to the selected number without going over will win. The Illinois lottery results can be found on the following website:

https://www.illinoislottery.com/dbg/results/pick3

You must be 18 years of age or older to play. The first-place winner will be sent an AAPK PM after the drawing and will have 5 days to respond with contact and shipping information. If the first-place winner does not respond within the 5 days, the knife will be offered to the next player on the list without going over.
The next-place winner will be sent an AAPK PM and they will have 3 days to respond with contact and shipping information. If the next-place winner does not respond within the 3 days, the knife will be offered in the same manner to the next-place winner on the list without going over.

Good Luck!

Thank you, Tom. I appreciate your diligence and professionalism in coordinating this and taking the time to post these photos.

As a side note to all: This knife has never been used, carried or sharpened...and is in MINT condition as well as the sheath. Also, disregard the "2003" written on the end of the box. This knife is definitely a 1999. The box is 'not' the original box for this knife, but it's the box I received the knife in when I purchased it. Good Luck to all who choose to enter this month's drawing. I'm truly looking forward to sending this knife to a new home for some lucky person. ::tu::

Thank you for the kind thoughts, OC, Floyd & Phil.

A bit more history on this particular knife: When contemplating the making of this knife, Buck consulted with two Montana outfitters and here's what they came up with.

Buck historical information about the making of this knife: (Info from BCCI)

“To create the “Big Sky" field knife, we consulted with two Montana outfitters: Tom Smith of Tom Smith's Backcountry Anglers, Dillon and Greg Lily of Greg Lily's Fly Fishing, Twin Turin Bridges.” Hence, the Big Sky 403 knife. https://backcountryangler.com https://www.angleradventures.com/montan ... ers-lodge/

MMmmmmm...I'm not a fixed blade collector, but I sure would like that beautiful Buck Big Sky in my collection...or, even better in my hand. Big Sky on the Big Island, surely that's a match made in heaven (regardless of Montana's claim to be "big-sky" country! ) That knife just begs to be held...wielded...put to use. Thanks for the generous donation KLJ77...this one I'm really ::fc:: for

Thanks everyone for the kudos. Good Luck to all who enter the giveaway. It's my honor and pleasure to pass on an awesome knife to a lucky AAPK member.

Thank you Tom for allowing me to be a donator and a supporter of an awesome program Bryan started waaaaaaaaay back in April 2005. ::handshake:: ::tu:: It's amazing this great giveaway is still going after 16 years. That says a lot about this site. It's a great way for AAPK Knifer's to be involved, show camaraderie and support for one of the greatest knife sites on the web. The Monthly Knife Giveaway has some GREAT history to it, if one has never reviewed the entire giveaway thread from the beginning.

It's all wrapped up & boxed up...just waiting for a winner and an address. ::tu::

Depending on how quick Tom receives confirmation from the winner and Tom provides an address, it will go out in tomorrows mail to the winner. Otherwise, it will be Monday. Of course, it all depends on whether the winner remembers to 'check in' tonight or early tomorrow to do their part.

Good LUCK to all those who entered this drawing for April. And a huge THANKS to Bryan and Tom for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this awesome 'knife giveaway' program as a donator. ::handshake::
