Hmmmm...no indication of a 'confirmed' winner yet. ::facepalm:: I would think that; if one is going to enter a contest such as this, and are aware of the ending date, they would make an effort to check in to check their status. This has been happening a lot in past months. I'm glad it's a 5 day confirmation notice now, instead of the original 10. Hopefully, this will alleviate a long drawn out hold up and will give the 'second' person in line a better and fair opportunity to become the winner.

To be fair...I know everyone 'has a life', and 'life' tends to get in the way sometimes.

Well it's happened again .... Privateer failed to reply in the allotted time so I have declared rexstubbins as the new winner of this beautiful knife that Cal has donated. The new rules are eliminating a long drawn-out affair but it still breaks my heart to write that PM to the failed winner but joy returns when I declare a new winner as is the case with rexstubbins. Congratulations! ::ds::

When I saw that the original winner had a grand total of zero posts, I was thinking that a non-response might be the result. It’s strange to me that someone would enter the drawing but not check back to see if they won or not. I guess that’s just human nature to see something, think it’s a good idea and enter, then forget about it. ::shrug::

I bet Doug doesn’t let it slip by. ::hmm::

Oh well, Privateer's loss, rexstubbin's gain! I just hope that Privateer isn't ill so as to make it impossible for him to check the status of the contest. ::pray:: 8)

Well, I'll hold any further 'congrats' until we have a positive confirmed winner. It shouldn't take 30 days to give away a free knife. ::facepalm:: I'm glad Tom and Bryan decided to decrease the amount of wait time down to 5 days...and then 3 days. ::tu::

Whatchu talkin bout willis - 3 days? Last I knew it was 5 days. Did I miss something?

And yes I did. Went back and read the initial post and discovered it's a descending time frame.
1st winner has 5 days to respond.
No response, it goes to the second winner in line who has 3 days to respond.
After that, it's just given to me. :mrgreen:

Congratulations to Doug (rexstubbins) who quickly claimed that beautiful Red Wine Jigged Bone Northfield Moose. Thank you once again to everyone that played ... I too hope that Privateer wasn't involuntarily incapacitated in some way so as to not be able to respond ... but the show must go on! ::tu::

::groove:: Alrighty then. Congrats, Doug! You got yourself a nice one. ::tu:: Who said second place was just the first loser. Seems lately, second place 'IS' the winner. ::tu::

Congratulations Doug! ::handshake:: I remember when I use to frequent the horse races and a "Dispute" would show on the board after a race, I usually had the horse that ran 2nd, and would be praying for a disqualification of the winning horse so my "2nd" would end up the winner. That was rarely the case, but the way you won this contest reminded me of those times. Enjoy your new knife! 8)

WOW. I checked in after the draw and saw that I didn't win. I didn't bother to check that I was next in line. Thank you very much Cal for putting up such a fine knife. And thank you Tom for being the moderator. I suspect that I should also thank Privateer and hope all is well with you.

And to Dale. I thought about dragging my feet to claim the prize until the 11th hour but then thought that would be cruel :lol:

Thanks again Cal. ::tu::
