January 2023 AAPK Monthly Forum Member Knife Giveaway

Post by bestgear »

This month TPK (Tom) has donated a Boker USA Limited Edition 4-Bladed Congress knife measuring 3 5/8" inches closed that was released in late November 1975 as part of a 25-knife series to celebrate America's Bicentennial. Series #1 consisted of 12 knives and was released between May 1974 & July 1976 by Boker USA. Series #2 also consisted of 12 knives from Boker USA and was released between August 1976 & June 1978. In between Series #1 & #2, there was yet another 25th knife in the "Overall" Series. This one, however (a Folding Hunter) was produced by Böker in Solingen Germany. A very cool & interesting knife Series to read about that covers a lot of American History. ::tu::

This 1975 - Boker USA Congress knife has a total of three Tang Stamps.
#1) Boker (over) USA,
#2) Model Nr.: 1778 with Tree Logo
#3) Serial Nr.: 1 8508

The shield features the sinking USS Maine and says, "Remember the Maine". The master blade etch reads “Rise to World Power". Furthermore, this knife has brownish-red, jigged, synthetic handles, Carbon Steel Blades, Pinched Nickel Silver Bolsters & Brass Liners.

To the best of my knowledge, this knife has never been carried, used, or sharpened & has been in my showcase for the past couple of years.

Shipping from Germany to the U.S. could take up to two weeks so please be patient. Good luck everyone! ::handshake::

Very nice! Thanks Tom. ::tu:: That one needs to be won by g-dog or one of the other members from Maine. But I’m gonna take a chance on it coming to Texas.

Sweet donation, Tom. ::tu:: That's an attractive Congress. And Thanks to Tom (Bestgear) for all your unwavering dedication to the MKG.

I'm personally going to dub this month's donation as the "Tom-Tom" knife.

That is a sweet Boner congress!
I have an old worn out one that I often carry to church on Sundays, nowhere near as nice as this knife!

Tic-Toc Tic-Toc - If you want a chance to win this beautiful Boker USA Limited Edition 4-Bladed Congress, you have about 7 hours remaining to pick the winning number - if you've already picked the winning number then the message has already been received  Good Luck to all that entered and are eligible to win. ::tu::

I was hesitant to enter the contest so I asked my wife. She said it's OK go ahead. :D
I can't explain it but I really thought I picked a lucky number.

I will definitely be on the lookout to pay it forward with one of the knives
I carry daily.

I donated a big fishing knife a few years back, and the guy that picked the number for it had won before. He lived in Russia. The knife hinged like scissors for cutting bait, had a saw edge on the back for cutting bone and was about a foot long, with Zytel handles. I asked him if it was legal to ship it to him. He said sure, in the documents under description, just put fishing scissors. He messaged me he got them, and had no idea they were that BIG. Ya know, I don't know if I've heard from him since?
