Random and interesting youtube videos

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

I've been watching a lot of these CGI short films - some of them are hilarious! Sometimes the humor is subtle, and sometimes it's not...

That reminds me of the Mad magazine toon, firemen rescue a cat from a tree for a lady and then runs over it.

So, this happened in SoCal today. It seems like we get one of these car chases every few weeks. As they go, this one was fairly short, but very high on the idiot scale. Many years ago I had one of these runners whiz by me on the shoulder of the freeway while I was going home from work. He was trailing about a half dozen highway patrol cars. That particular one ended quite dramatically, the guy stopped in the middle of the freeway, waved a gun around for quite a while, then shot himself. I don't remember the backstory on what his malfunction was.

I don't know anything about woodpeckers, but this guy seems like a bit of an overachiever...

Did he really do all that in one day, or did he just wear the same clothes for a month??

At our County Fair there used to be a wood carving club that would truck in big logs and do chainsaw carvings throughout the week of the fair. I have a lot of respect for carvers and sculptors. To be able to see the final product in a raw chunk of wood, rock or clay is something that is simply beyond me. My brain just doesn't work like that!

I love old school gassers & hot rods. If I could have one (and I can't) I would love it to be a '41 Willys or '40 Ford Coupe gasser with a big 'ol 671 blower sticking out of the hood. Forget spooling-up the turbos and purging the NOS, just stomp the pedal and let 'er rip!

I was 7 years old in 1968, and I have a memory of everyone being afraid of the Zodiac killer. It was big news in California. Now, 50 years later, they finally break one of his coded messages. Crazy stuff!

This is absolutely insane. This guy rides a weighted sled down a rope to a depth of 700 ft, and then is winched back to the surface. Along the way he has to make decompression stops - and he's holding his breath the entire time. He has the ability to hold his breath for up to 9 minutes...

And now for something completely different - when I was a growing up in Texas in the 60’s there was a cult “garage band” of some local renown called The 13th Floor Elevators. The leader was a guy named Roky Erickson, a musical prodigy who wound up spending most of his tragic life in mental hospitals. While perusing youtube I found this mesmerizing video, set to one of the band’s songs. BTW that weird sound is a jug, played by one of the band members. It was a regular feature of their music.
