It's a 4000 hd cattle feedlot. Not very big by Nebraska Kansas and Texas standards. Our soil is very rich (and high priced ) so they are in a slatted floor barn. They stay very clean and dry. Winter and spring can be brutal here on outside cattle lots. We are a Nutrena feed store and make feed for around 20000 hogs and sevice 7 other cattle feedlots. We also farm 800 acres of corn and do another 1000 acres of custom manure application in the fall. We are small compared to the big cooperatives but try to provide high quality service. Things have changed since I was a kid. Margins are tooWillyCamaro wrote: ↑Sat Jul 04, 2020 2:06 am Wonderful story, family history, and family heirloom. Thank you for sharing Mr. Bill!
Btw, I see you run a cattle ranch down your way. If you don't mind me asking, how many head/big is your outfit? I see the silos, so must be quite large .
small for the small family diversified farms to survive so most of my cattle customers bring their corn to us and then we feed their cattle in our feedlot.
