Btw, I see you run a cattle ranch down your way. If you don't mind me asking, how many head/big is your outfit? I see the silos, so must be quite large :) .
It's a 4000 hd cattle feedlot. Not very big by Nebraska Kansas and Texas standards. Our soil is very rich (and high priced ) so they are in a slatted floor barn. They stay very clean and dry. Winter and spring can be brutal here on outside cattle lots. We are a Nutrena feed store and make feed for around 20000 hogs and sevice 7 other cattle feedlots. We also farm 800 acres of corn and do another 1000 acres of custom manure application in the fall. We are small compared to the big cooperatives but try to provide high quality service. Things have changed since I was a kid. Margins are too
small for the small family diversified farms to survive so most of my cattle customers bring their corn to us and then we feed their cattle in our feedlot.

Like it or not, definitely artifacts and both are German WW2 era. The watch keeps accurate time and the knife was never used. No, I don't use the watch. The other watches all work fine. I don't use any of them either.

That's a pretty unique watch with ol' "what's his name" on the face of it.
Would that be a picnic knife with the cork screw? Great looking knife there. I can't tell who made it.
And a good looking group of five other watches. Great artifacts, all.
Nice possessions, Skip. Thank you for showing them.

Thank you Joe. I think I got all the info I can get on it. Made during the WW2 era, or just before. Available for military and civilian purchase. ::shrug::

Here's a nice old square from days gone by made by Ballard drop Forge. Ballard, Washington.

The little lever within the handle is a brake.

In my family forever, EDISON toaster with the original, now a fire hazard, cord. It's now just a decoration in my kitchen.

Very nice toaster, Skip.
I used one of those for years. The one I had had a feature that would flip the toast on each side to toast the other side.
Never had to touch the toast. It was so neat. ::nod::

The Universal Food Chopper #2. Made by Landers, Frary & Clark, New Britain, Connecticut, U.S.A. With the original coarse, medium and fine cutters. Also the original instruction sheet. This item was used quite extensively in my family, but doesn't look it. Food did NOT get thrown away. I've never used it, but I keep it in a kitchen cupboard. There are quite a few of these on eBay as of this posting.

Skip, that chopper/grinder is in great shape and since it is from your family that makes it that much more special.
I have several of those small grinders, I thought I would collect them at one time but haven't followed through to actually call it a "collection". Universal grinders are as you said, quite common as are KeenKutters, Griswold and Entreprise plus several other names I can't recall. My search was for a grinder with the Winchester logo, which I finally found. The KeenKutter has the same logo as the pocket knives tang stamp, they might interest some knife collectors. I've wonder how many of the grinders were made by the same company, just a different name on the body? ::hmm::
I'll try to post a few pictures of some of the ones I've accumulated in a day or so.
We also have a combination coffee peculator/toaster that appears to be quite old, it was a gift from a friend.
I'm enjoying this thread about artifacts. ::tu::

That is a beauty Skip!
I have a Universal grinder also, not quite as nice but not used very much. I got for nostalgia sauce. I see them often at sales, usually for less than $5

I don't remember the brand, but we had one on the ranch when i was a kid. It was how we ground venison and beef to make hamburger. It was quite a workout when grinding all the hamburger from even half a beef. Venison wasn't as bad because they a lot smaller!
