RIP John Prine

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Oh how sad!! I had heard he was ill with the virus, hadn't heard he died, I guess it will be all over today's news. He was certainly one of the best singer/songwriters of our time and I consider myself lucky to have seen him in concert several times. This is truly sad news.

Per Rolling Stone Magazine:

Honor Blackman died yesterday as well, at the age of ninety-four of natural causes.

I’ll miss his wit and humor, but thank the Lord we have his recordings. Hope he’s enjoying his cocktail in heaven!

RIP John Prine. My favorite song of his is "Paradise". Partially because I really like the song and partially because my ancestors sat a spell in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky on their way to finally settling in Posey County Indiana before they moved across the Big Wabash to White County Illinois. My second favorite is the one he did with Iris DeMent - In Spite of Ourselves.

Thanks for the Rolling Stone link, Charlie. I don't think I ever heard a piece by JP that I didn't like. I don't know how many weeks of my life I have spent listening to him (and to Iris Dement, for that matter).

One of my very favorite songwriters. RIP John Prine.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Didn't know him personally but a good buddy was friends with him, said he was a nice man, salt of the earth is his quote. I call him today with my condolences. It's so sad we are losing friends and loveones are unable to say our goodbyes and support the survivors as we normally would. RIP John. God bless

I don’t know nearly enough of his music. I do know that if you get three women together at an open mic, you’ll end up with a catfight between at least two of ‘em over who gets to sing “Angel From Montgomery”.
I do it regularly and we also play it at Uke Club.
I like the way he put words together.
I’m too young to be this old!

One of my favourite singer/songwriters, very sad to see him go. He had some great lyrics. He came to my city twice (22 years apart) and I was there both times.
