Let the decorating begin!

Post by dlr110 »

Or continue whatever the case may be. It's the day after Thanksgiving and it would seem that all eyes and attention has turned toward Christmas shopping and decorating the house.
Here are some pictures of our house inside as the process continues.
Share some of your decorating ideas.

Well it is only a little over three weeks until the big day. All you decorators get busy or you won't have time to be sick of it by the 25th. Linnea does enough for both of us so I just drive over to her house to get my fill. That way I don't have to go back and take stuff down after it's only been up for a couple of weeks. Three weeks are going to fly by. Is it time to start saying Merry Christmas already? Gosh, before we know it, it will be 2020.

Edit: I forgot to mention Bah Humbug.

Looks great, thankfully we've cut way back on the decorations. I used to put lights all over the out side of the house, barns and cedar trees. But I'm not aloud to climb anymore so that's out. I've still got alot of out door scenery but I'm to lazy to even do that anymore. The boss used have a Christmas tree in every room, Santa's everywhere, and floral arrangements, but she's cut way back over the last few years. I guess we'll get a few boxes of decorations down from the barn in a couple if days, but she is ain't mentioned it yet and I sure ain't. They sure have some beautiful lights now and they last alot longer. I get a hankering every once in a while, but just get out and drive around a bit and look at the neighborhood and get my fix. ::tu:: ::handshake::

Very nice David. Who would not like that picture of the Christmas Tree w/ dog?

I will try to take some pictures tomorrow. I think we will put up the entire medium
size Nativity set up this year. Takes a while to unpack each figure from the box but it
certainly represents Christmas.

So, I started with the last post on this thread and scrolled slowly upwards. I saw the Guinness and wondered who was posting, went a little further and saw the German flags, thought maybe it was TPK. Then I come to the Nationals W.S. champs and I knew. I guess that is your new favorite ornament, huh? Lookin' good!

Even though I don't do any decorating myself and in spite of being a bit of a Scrooge McDuck I do enjoy seeing the efforts of others. Thanks to all of you, past, present and future for showing yours.

I know an artificial tree is somewhat of a copout but that's condo life for you. We listen to Traditional Holidays on Dish 98 while decorating and relaxing, unless skiing or hockey is on.

Thanks fellas, much appreciated. We lost a box of 40 years of ornaments a few years ago in a move. It was heart wrenching, but it is just stuff, so we just started again. The girls have a great time decorating the tree.

Here are some of the outside decorations. The tree in the window is my office and the last one is out dining room now. We now have 3 decorated trees.
When Cheryl gets in the mood to decorate it's best to just get out of the way. She does this for just about every major holiday. I take ZERO credit.

David, that is one awesome looking house! I was admiring the pics of the interior, but wow, when you posted these, I had to comment. That shot from a distance, with the wraparound porch and lights, beautiful. I'm guessing ice skates and sleds are purely ornamental in Texas, right?

Thank you very much for your kind compliments Sir. No, unless you go to an indoor ice rink say in Dallas they are strictly decorations. However they are both the real deal and were used by my wife Cheryl in her childhood when they lived in Kokomo, Indiana and Stephenville, Newfoundland Canada. Her father was a Senior Master Sergeant and B-52 aircrewman in the Air Force.

Looks like we're off to a good start this year. My daughter and her family have been over here for the past 3 days helping Cheryl and I put up lights and redecorating every room in the house, including my office. I'll have some pic's here in a day or two after we clear all the boxes and get things
"tweaked" as Cheryl would say. Keep the holiday pictures coming again this year, there nice to see how everyone decorates.
