Credit where credit is Due
I bought a Honda 2500PSI pressure washer in 1998. I have used it many many times over the years on my various homes and have always been wel satisfied with it's performance. Some of you may be familiar with this situation but as you age your proclivity to get out there and clean things up declines emensively, so after about 4 years of inactivity I got out there today and and cleaned the walk and driveway with nary amiss from this little Honda engine. Salutations are in order.

Good to know. I'm looking at my first pressure washer. It's a Craftsman, but it has a Honda engine. Hope I like it.

There have been a couple of times in my life when I made a living repairing and maintaining small engines. While I don't claim to be an expert, I am impressed with the small Honda engines above all of the others currently manufactured. Tecumseh used to make a good engine but I'm not sure they're still in business and I worked on a lot of Wisconsin V4 engines in the Marine Corps. I'm not sure the V4 is still made, but it was a good engine also. But for the small lawn mower / pressure washer type motors I think Honda wins hands down for dependability.
I have owned to Honda motorcycles and numerous Honda automobiles. One I traded in with 365000 miles on it. I hated to trade that went in but it had some body issues that I didn't want to deal with.
Every motor and or vehicle I have owned with the Honda name on it as provided above-average performance and durability at the least, and exceptional performance and durability at the best.
Based on my experience; your mileage may vary.

I bought a Craftsman snow blower, 9 hp. and 29 inch path with a Tecumseh engine at least 15 years ago.
I put on a new cable once. It has never given me a bit of trouble (I hope I'm not jinxing this thing) and it starts every time.
Please, Please start next year!

About 6 years ago I bought a 10 year old used Hustler ztr mower from a guy at church. It had a Honda engine, 18hp I think it was. It ran like a top and never did bog down. I owned it a couple of years and bought a bigger mower. I sold it to the Father-in-law of the man I bought it from. He put it at one of his rent houses for my best friend, who rents from him, to use. It’s still going strong with nary a problem. You can’t beat those little Hondas imo.

I had a Honda snowblower that I won in a vehicle troubleshooting competition back in 1985. I used it every year, rarely changed the oil and just recently got rid of it. The carburetor had an issue an I just didn’t want to work on it.
I worked on their vehicles for many, many years (Honda and Acura), and they build some pretty nice vehicles.

I have a Honda 7.5HP rototiller that i bought 38 years ago. I'm on the third set of tines. I have used it to open up cleared areas of mountainside to make gardens. Sometimes it leaps into the air as it hits and moves big buried rocks. Now i only use it every 2-3 years, yet it starts with a single pull.
I had a Honda lawn tractor that for over 30 years mowed the lumpy sloping 2-3 acres of lawn around the house. It always worked perfectly. Sold it to my neighbour and got a zero turn Husquvarna with 44 inch cutting deck which takes much less time to mow thanks to the bigger deck and zero turn.
I have a 5HP Honda self propelled lawn mower that is now about 25 or more years old. Always starts first pull and runs perfectly.
At one point i had 8 Honda machines. I have never had even one instance of a Honda not functioning exactly as it should in the past 38 years.
I am not much of a mechanic and it is a 2 hour drive to 'town' and a mechanic so i have greatly appreciated the 100% reliability of the Honda motors & machines.

I have a pressure washer with a Honda engine - I guess it's about 10 years old now. Always ran like a top until last year. I left some gas in it a little to long and had forgot to run the carb. dry before I put it up for the winter. It gummed up the carb and it would only run on full choke. I was going to buy a rebuild kit for the carb, but then I saw where you could buy the whole carb. for like $12 on Amazon. So I bought it and bolted the new carb. on and now it runs like a top again.

Gas companies claim that additives prevent gunking up during prolonged storage even for small motors. I used to drain all the gas from my small machines in late November and then get them going again in early April. I stopped doing it over 20 years ago on the advice of a friend who is a PhD chemist for a large oil & gas company. They all still start easily in the Spring.
