Still whipped from the camping trip on Wednesday/Thursday but I'm recovering...

Yesterday morning I took 3 of the boys to McDonalds for breakfast! AN older gentleman noticed us and said.....Looks like you
got 3 Marines there....yes sir I replied. He saluted, we saluted.

Ok fellas, after we finish eating we're going to stop by his table and shake his hand and say....Thank you for your service sir.

What an uplifting individual he was. Mentioned he had served 22 years and it's been 42 since he did that, can't believe how time flies he said.

As we prepared to depart he blessed us with Semper Fi words, which I told the boys meant ALWAYS FAITHFUL.

Well, if I were those boys I'd sign up now to be a Marine!

When a little camping trip burns your taters is how you can tell you're starting to get old. Stay active my friend.

You can never tell when a random incident like that will have an influence on a young person's life. At least you're pointing them in the right direction. Good on you Scott. You da man.

My youngest grandson has joined the Army. He leaves for Basic Training on June 4th, right after he graduates high school. It's not the Marine Corps as I would have had it but at least he is going to serve and I'm proud of him.

I wanted to teach the boys respect, something that isn't part of our young men's upbringing it seems these days.

My grandson is also invloved in the JROTC. He just made Corporal as a freshman in high school. I'm extremely proud of him. Now if I could get him interested the Navy...... ftd
