The Last Cowboy Song

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

A great song writer. He wrote You were Always On My Mindand recorded it, but Willie and Waylon made a number one hit of it.

I like this song, My First Taste Of Texas:

First time I've heard him. With a voice like that, I gotta wonder why he never became well known.
You can't throw out a softball like that without getting a crazy response from me!!! I'm doing my best to show restraint,, sitting on hands here!

Whatever do you mean Ray?

It's a great song, song by a man with a great voice, about how he met his wife.

I did. I was just teasing Ray.

I think the intent in that phrase was pretty obvious.

When I was in Texas years ago, there was a song on the jukebox in a local hangout that was titled, dare I say it? "How Can I Get You Off Of My Mind, When I can't Get You Off Of My Face?"

Those Tejicans.

That might have been by Kinky Freidman and The Texas Jew Boys.

It was, but I got the title wrong. Apparently, I've gotten it wrong for years. ::facepalm::

Probably couldn't get away with that now.

Why Charlie, I'm shocked. Who would'a thunk you would be familiar with Kinky Friedman and songs like They Aint Makin Jews Like Jesus Anymore and A$$hole from El Paso.

My favorite Willie Nelson album was "To Leftie, From Willie" in which he reprised Frizzell's many hits.

Charlie - great song and an under appreciated artist. I only have one Ed Bruce LP (on Vinyl  ) and it gets a run now & then.
I hope the royalties from "Mammas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys" afforded him a comfortable lifestyle.
I first came across Ed Bruce via the TV show Bret Maverick with James Garner - he sang the opening song and I liked what I heard so I went looking and found the LP simply called "Ed Bruce"

Apparently, Ed Bruce had a life changing experience somewhere along the way;
