Best Wife in the World

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Best Wife in the World

Post by orvet »

Most of you know that I brag from time to time about my wife. She puts up with my knife-collecting and even encourages me by helping me at my table at the Oregon show. She also helps me at flea markets when I am looking for knives; she will go a row or two ahead of me and text me the locations of good knives.

She’s also big about giving me NICE presents. She gets me the AAPK knife every year for Christmas and this year she got me a ZT 0350 too! Next week is my birthday so this year she kind of blew me out of the water! Maybe I should say she blew me into the water because this is my birthday present.

New boat b.jpg
It is a 1988, 17 foot Blue Fin bass boat with a 50 horse motor! I still need to get a bow mounted trolling motor and a couple other small things but it was a really sweet deal, and a big surprise! The guy we bought it from has only had it about six weeks and last week his wife bought a small abandoned Spanish mission in Arizona. He figured he didn’t need two boats living in the desert so he was a very motivated seller we got a really good deal on the boat and trailer!

I think I have the best wife in the world! ::nod::

Orvet, you do indeed, have a wonderful wife, but you know most of us here will have to take umbrage that she's the "best in the world" as that automatically puts our spouses as less than the best. :D

When I started collecting 1970 ten dot Cases in 1988, Sarah managed to get with another collector and bought three mint examples for my Christmas present. Still don't know how she pulled that off.

And I love that boat!

Wow, a beautiful boat & motor, what an incredible gift. I am jealous, but not because of this boat but because i do not have a wife with whom to share my joys & disappointments. You guys who do have a wife need to appreciate what you have. Dale certainly does.

I reckon my wife is pretty good 'cause she put up with me for 33 years.
But she can't be "best in the world" because she ain't never bought me no freakin' boat! ::tear::

How's that new boat treating you Dale? We haven't seen any lunkers that you've landed, what's say you?

I haven’t posted any lunkers yet Tom because we haven’t caught any. ::tear::
I’m still waiting for the trolling motor I ordered to get here; it should be here in the next day or two. I just got the licensing paperwork and everything from the Oregon State Marine Board in the mail Saturday. We probably aren’t going to get to put it to use until next week at the earliest. ::disgust::
I had surgery on my foot on the 15th so I’m just getting over that. On the 17th I noticed a huge lump on my wrist so I call my doctor on Friday because my hand was very painful. Considering I had just had surgery and my age, they went immediately to blood clot, but after sitting around the hospital for six hours and getting an ultrasound they said it was just a really bad case of tendonitis. They put me on a massive dose of prednisone to get the inflammation down. That tapers off over about two weeks. ::uc::
My right hand, wrist and shoulder are still very sore, I couldn’t cast a fishing pole if I wanted! The only reason I’m able to do much posting is that I have NaturallySpeaking, a talk to text program for computers.

My wife, Alyson retires this Friday, the 25th. On Saturday were going to her family reunion and then aside from doctors appointments, we have to figure out what were going to do with the rest of our lives! Fishing figures highly in that discussion and she is even interested in traveling cross-country to knife shows! Can you believe that? The woman buys me a bass boat and wants to travel with me to knife shows. ::woot::
I have been super blessed! ::nod::

::handshake:: All good Dale and my best to Alyson. I'm glad to hear you are on the mend and that the boat is coming together in just the nick of time....when you do land those lunkers please keep us updated!
