Are There Any FOOTBALL Fans On The Forum?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about, Ray! ::handshake:: Our ball team might not be the best (I know, I played my last games with 'em in a down year before getting hurt) but you can be sure he's gonna get a world-class engineering education. ::tu::

Let him know that a proud Tech alumnus has a question for him: "What's the good word?"

If he responds with ANYTHING but "To hell with Georgia!" make sure you haze him but good. ::nod::

Ferg I wrote off the NFL last year. As long as they tolerate that garbage I'm not going to support them in any way including my viewership.

Tony I'm thinking Ga. Tech might surprise some people this year. The practice footage I've seen looks pretty good. We'll find out today! ::tu::

In college ball do point differentials still count in the determination of ranking? Reason I ask is Penn State ran up the score on Akron 50 something to 0 and I thought that this may have been the reason. I'm a fan of Penn State but that wasn't necessary unless it mattered in rankings or some other esoteric thing at NCAA.

Score differential, or number of points put up on a tough opponent regardless of differential, often have a big impact on the human polls (AP, maybe not so much for the coach's) so it all figures into the calculus used to determine the final playoff spots.

It seems like the NCAA managed to deliver a playoff system that is every bit as complicated and maddening as the BCS system it replaces. ::hmm::

Oh well. Either way, can't wait for Monday night against the Vols. Big big test right at the beginning of the year. Of course, we go in as the home field dogs, but that's just fine with me. GO JACKETS!

Looks like FSU needs to walk back to Tallahassee, give 'em time to think and remember what they were supposed to do in that "big game" with Alabama. ::barf:: I'll still root for them as our 3 offspring got a decent education from FSU.
Maybe the quaterback dude with the French soundin' name ain't hurt too bad.

Bama gave 'em plenty of chances to do something big. ::doh::
A lot of dumb mistakes and missed opportunities on both sides.

Maybe it's the medical training in me, but I hate to see any player injured.

But, still . . . . !! ROLL TIDE !!

::tu:: l just read that the police and fire unions will not display our flag at any Browns game because of the actions of the players and the Browns management who failed to respond to the players actions durring the national anthem. I support the actions by the unions, GOOD FOR THEM! ftd

Apparently the Chiefs are who we thought they were. ::uc::

So much for any prospects of KC@NE being an interesting and viewership-sustaining season opener... ::facepalm::

I'm thinking Lamar might be on the run for the better part of the game. That defensive front for Clemson is outstanding! ::nod::

Having watched Clemson's ascent on a weekly basis focusing heavily on the ACC, I am basically at the point where someone has to prove to me on the field that Clemson isn't headed back to the title game (probably against Bama).

We can finally settle this ACC/SEC thing once and for all.

Tuned in the Texas Tech vs. Houston game yesterday expecting to see over 100 combined points scored. While watching my Texas Tech Red Raiders prevail I kept asking myself "who are these guys"? ::shrug:: Texas Tech had 200 yards rushing? Only 24 points scored on their defense? (Just 17 when it counted - the last 7 were scored in "garbage time" at the end). Holy Spike Dykes!

Still not sure they're for real, but should find out a lot next week - Tech is hosting Oklahoma State, who got burned yesterday by a pretty good TCU team.
