Another day, another 4 or 5 inches of snow, high winds, and ground blizzard conditions on the Northern Plains. This is the 6th snow on the robins this "spring" here. Maybe the saying should be amended to "It always snows AT LEAST 3 times on the robins". The good news is it will be up to 50 degrees later in the week here.

Was shocked to wake up to snow on the ground this morning. Was just enough to cover the grass but still and all, wasn't expecting it. Supposed to be in the 70's on Thursday and Friday.

80 degrees and windy here this afternoon. Severe thunderstorm warning and tornado watch until late tonight. Storm is headed this way with golf ball size hail. ::woot:: Moved stuff around in the shop and put my wife's Tahoe in there. My pick-up lives under the implement shed most of the time anyway.

Looks now like everyone South of us for many miles are going to get hammered over the next two days. It got near Lake Superior and the dry cold conditions held it from coming North. We are suppose to get an inch or two and then cold temps for a few days but that's all. All of you down South stay safe. Spring is coming, maybe.____Dave

The spring blizzard continues. It turned to snow overnight and is piling up. The prediction for here is snow falling at 1 to 2 inches per hour at times till this evening. Interstate 90 across South Dakota has been closed most of the last 24 hours, with parts in the west river just opening back up. The storm is huge, covering a very wide area and moving slower that predicted. It is hard to tell how much snow we have had because the wind is blowing so hard that some spots are bare of snow while other spots have huge drifts. Would some one try to encourage me that spring is coming???

OC that is awesome. There is some Spring going on in KY: some flowers are budding, birds are active at their nests. I'll do what I can to push our weather North. We do have some rain but I am sure you would prefer that.

Another week, another April snowstorm. We got another 4-5" in Sioux Falls, very wet heavy stuff. Fortunately the temp has been around 35, so it has not been freezing on the streets. Maybe someday we will be able to go outside without winter coats on.

It's cool and overcast here today, high supposed to be around 60 with 70% chance of thunderstorms. Back to sunny and the 70s tomorrow according to the weather guessers.

Terry, Olde cutler,.. I know you boys out there in the Plains have had
it tough...specially OC, and I been reading all the stories about the
eastern 1/3rd of South Dakota, I will be going thru there in a month or
so...OC, do you remember when Vivian, SD got that hailstorm maybe 5-8 yrs
back, killed a lot of stock and they had a pic of the largest hail stone in weight
ever recorded, doggone thing looked like a football !!! I stop for gas in Vivian
on all my passes thru there, 1/2 the houses in town were vacant where folk's just
left, all of em destroyed and full of holes. I bought a tee shirt they were clearing
out at the gas station, it read: Vivian, South Dakota, "What the Hail"

Thanks for thinking about us, Dave. ::handshake::
We've had rain off and on since about 2pm. The eye is south of the coast about 100 miles+/- and looks like we will now be dry for a while, then it will start again as the rain bands come again as the storm heads NW. The path that is now projected puts us on the east side of the landfall, usually more rain and chances of tornados as the mess hit land.
The radar shows that much of GA and SC are getting more rain than Florida right now.
The satellite TV signal has not been interrupted as it is during real heavy rain.
Keep all effected by Alberto in your prayers, please. ::pray::

Edit: 11pm just saw where there was 9 inches of rain in Ellicott City, Maryland. The video was unreal!

Yes, I hope those of you who are in the Florida panhandle and other places in the path of Alberto are prepared and don't have too many problems. Here in Sioux Falls, SD yesterday we broke the all time record high temp for the date by 3 and made 95 degrees. This coming only a few weeks after having 14 inches of snow on April 15th. There really wasn't much spring weather here between that end of winter and the onset of summer like temps.

Let us pray the storm continues moving and doesn't stall out over land.

Here it's just hot. 96 yesterday and more of the same forecast for today,

The storm has passed by us and is now in Alabama, heading north, not a lot to it this time. ::tu:: I believe the weather forecasters were a bit disappointed.
I'll check the rain gauge in the morning, the amount probably won't be 2 inches. Lost power for about an hour early in the afternoon. Made for a good nap!

Hit 96 here yesterday and the 90's and humid today. Unusual for May in Michigan. I see that the Robin is getting help this morning so at least one egg has opened. The big storm is to reach us.

The flood of 2018. This afternoon we had lakes forming around us. The house is on high ground so no threat. Lost some big branches to the winds. Long resident neighbors say they never experienced flooding like this. Lost power for a few hours which is now restored and the water quickly subsiding as shown in the last photo. The water had been over the road, almost up to the single tree.

QS, glad you weathered the storm/flood of 2018 without much damage to your place! I know there are many others who were not as fortunate! The power of Mother Nature never ceases to amaze  What part or area of the eastern seaboard do you live in?

Wish we could have some of your rain here in Australia.I had a person laying a concrete slab for a shed and he had to dig some peers 2.2metre (7.25 feet)and the soil was dry all the way.The country needs a good rain as we have no sub soil moisture.

Law! We had a great big storm last night. 60mph winds, black as midnight, and the rain sounded like it was going to beat the roof in. As far as I can tell we didn’t have any damage.

I have a bunch of teees around the house. They're mostly oaks and hickories around 75’ tall, and one big old oak that has to be close to 200 years old, maybe older that’s well over 100’ tall down in front of the barn. I get a little nervous when it blows like that, but so far all is good. The across the road neighbors kid’s trampoline blew into my yard but thanfullay it missed the garage.

Since it’s all wet and muddy, I guess I’ll have to put off that fencing I was going to do today, shucks. Lol.
