Are There Any BASEBALL Fans On The Forum?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Has anyone else noticed the number of teams that are at .500 and below in the National League at this point? The only strong division is the west. It could be a really exciting sprint to the finish for whomever gets hot in the second half ::nod::

::shrug:: Until the owners of the Reds decide to spend a little money for pitching and release their sore arm pitchers they will continue to wallow near the bottom of the league. You cant as a team depend on kids from the farm teams to be Cy Young quality, until they've had time to develop. ftd

I will continue to blame the revolving door to the disabled list.

Mets injury-ravaged starting pitching is the chief story and inconsistent/sometimes inept long relief (like every other year, it seems) is the subplot.

The offense is there. The outfield depth is there. The role players are there. deGrom is an absolute top-tier stud. Now it's time for the rest of the million-dollar arms to get, and stay, healthy. ::disgust::

They may have the worst record in MLB but at least they beat the Mets today. (Sorry Tony. Sorta.)

Wow! What a thriller that was. The Braves take game three in 12 innings 4-3 from Oakland to complete the sweep. ::ds::

Jerry

Normally I would take great joy in watching a winning contest with the Mets and I am pleased they won. But the Mets.......they are so beat up I can't take much joy with it. Rubber match tomorrow.

No worries, Jerry. Far as I'm concerned in baseball you're gonna win 1/3rd of your games and lose 1/3rd of your games. It's what you do with the middle 1/3rd that makes the whole season. I'll take a series win any time, especially with half the team on the shelf. ::nod::

New York Mets center fielder Brandon Nimmo was placed on the disabled list Saturday with a partially collapsed lung, per James Wagner of the New York Times.

According to the New York Daily News, Nimmo was taken to the hospital Friday night, though the issue is apparently not life threatening.

Cubs won yesterday and got back to .500, now they will lose tonight because they're on an every other game schedule and they can't go above .500. At least not by more than one game.

Cubs may have set a new 1st inning record today. They allowed the Pirates 10 runs. Awesome! It's been an amazing 1st half of a year, after they won the championship.

Dave when I first saw that 10 runs in the top of the first it looked like this on my Sirius radio:
PIT10 CHI 0
I thought to myself that's gotta be another T out there instead of a one. Unbelievable!

Braves lose to the Nats today 10-5 but I'll take a split with those guys. Going to the break 3 games under .500. At least we're a little better than last year. ::doh::

Well the Cubs didn't trade Happ (yet :)) although it sounds like they are looking for more pitching help (Sonny Gray?). I hope Quintana comes through for them - they traded 2 very good minor league players in Jimenez anc Cease to get Quintana.

Leading the Orioles 8-0 after the top of the third. Now it's the middle of the 7th and the Cubs are struggling to maintain a 2 run lead. ::facepalm::
