Indeed it is. 44 year old Bartolo Colon out-dueled Verlander and took a perfect game into the eighth inning before finally giving up a hit. Rangers beat the Lastros 3-1 to win the series! ::ds:: ::ds:: ::super_happy::

Watched that. Colon is a calm, gum chewing, monster on the mound. As soon as he walked that guy, you knew his no hitter was just a dream. You can thank that old Cub closer, Hector Rondon for the win. I was very happy to see him in the rearview mirror.

The Bravos host the Mets for four in Atlanta starting this evening. This could give us an early season read on the power in the east. ::nod::

Losing the series to Washington was the wake-up call the Mets needed.

Thankfully the bats came back to life in game 3 and we stormed back from an early deficit.

Gonna be an interesting few games this weekend. GO METS!!!

Hoskins just hit his 3rd dinger for the year. 1-0 Phils over those Buco's. The middle of April, all the players are dressed like November.

Make that 4 to zip. Phils score 3 on a bases loaded single, Buco's asleep.

I figure the Metropolitans needed a running start for the season to get ahead of the injury list :)

All kidding aside, last year sucked for you guys.

You know it, Steve.

We've already got our top two catchers on the shelf and d'Arnaud is done for the year (maybe more) with Tommy John surgery scheduled. I ran across a blog post titled "The Mets have a catcher problem" online the other day and snorted, then just closed the window. That's a NO S*** SHERLOCK situation there.

Our pitching is pretty much as advertised and the rest of the bats are doing their job. I'll reserve the Casey Stengal "My Amazins" face for later in the season if someone super critical goes down.

Good to see the Cubs pick up a win over the Red Birds. The Birds started a rally but thank goodness it fizzled out. Now that this cold weather is sliding on out of here, we'll see a bit better performance from the Cubbies. Back at .500 but everyone other than Cincy is better than that. It's still early.

Don't know how that game turned out Greg but I do know the Frillies beat the Pirates 2 to 1 in 9. Trying not to get too hopeful. It's fun though for sure. ::tu::

Cubs trounced the Rockies last night 16-5. Historically that would mean the Cubs will lose tonight. Sure would like to see that cycle broken. Yu Darvish is pitching tonight. Maybe he will start living up to the hype and the salary. I would hate to see the Cubs waste $21M on a dud.

Bravos get it done in the bottom of the ninth. Winning run scores on a bunt single by Ender Inciarte. What a nail biter. ::ds::

Cubs led 2-0 until Darvish's wheels fell off in the 5th inning. It was all down hill from there on out. ::facepalm::

Not too thrilled to see the Mets might still have a middle relief problem.

No team can count on the bats blowing up every single night and putting games out of reach. This is a bit concerning after all the movement this offseason.

deGrom is The Truth™, however.
