Are There Any BASEBALL Fans On The Forum?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Rain in Atlanta has delayed the start of this monumental contest between the Cubs and Braves. :(

Judging from the radio broadcast there is a large contingent of Cubs fans at the Ballpark tonight. Atlanta is a good place to to migrate to. ::tu::
Braves up 1-0.

Greg,
You guys gave our closer Davis a good scare in the 9th!

With Lackey pitching tonight, you have an opportunity.

Hey Greg!
Sorry 'bout that! But at least the Cubs are finally on a roll.

This weekend we have the Cards in town at Wrigley. The starting pitching will be Arrieta, then Lester, then Quintana. That ought to get their attention.

Dave, six in a row since the break is down right impressive. Maybe that will kick off a run down of the Brewers for you. ::nod:: I'm afraid we've got three with the Dodgers in L.A. next. ::tear::

Cubs have won 10 out of 12 games since the All-Star break, for a winning percentage of 0.833.

In other news, the Brewers keep losing. 3rd inning against the Nats... 6 HRs, 7 run 3rd, Nats up 9-0.

I was at the Rangers-Marlins game last night when this happened. Typical impish Adrian Beltre, having fun. One of the funniest things I've seen at a baseball game. And one of the most dusgusting acts by an umpire I've seen.

I was at the game to watch Aedrian Beltre in pursuit of 3000 hits. He entered the game just 7 hits shy of 3000. Beltre was 3-for-5 including a home run and two doubles, and was on deck preparing for his 6th and likely final at-bat of the game when he was ejected. The Rangers were getting clobbered 18-6 in the 8th inning at the time, yet thousands of fans in attendance stayed to watch Beltre.

My buddy and I were sitting behind the Ranger's dugout. Beltre was on-deck warming up, standing where he always does, with his back to the field while swinging the bat. The second-base umpire stopped the game and started slowly walking toward Beltre, pointing and gesturing. Couldn't hear what he was saying and apparently neither could Beltre. As the ump reached the first base line, Beltre became aware and turned toward him. The umpire told Beltre he needed to be standing in the on-deck circle. The rest you can see in the video.

Hitters NEVER stand in the on-deck circle. Why at this time, this hitter, would an umpire suddenly make an issue about it?? Very disappointing to see umpires thinking they're the show, and depriving paying fans from seeing a star player, future hall of famer, making history. Disgraceful. ::barf::

Ump Jerry Davis is almost up there with Joe West now! I've seen Cowboy Joe do some very bizarre things during games. Looks like Jerry wants to follow in his footsteps.

Cubs Watch:
Update 7/28/17

They won again last night against the White Sox, taking back the Crosstown Cup... now 11 out of 13 since the AS break. 0.846 win percentage. Schwarber looked like his old self... 2 homers and a triple.

Playing tonight at Miller Park against the Brew Crew. We have 3 games with them and can do some serious damage here, if we can sweep them. Our new Ace, Jose Quintana on the bump. Since joining the team, he has a 2.08 ERA. 7:10pm start.

The Cubs are now finally back in the same play/mindset as 2016. We are finally witnessing, the run we've been waiting for since April.

Lucas Duda traded. A sad silence descends momentarily upon Flushing. Thanks for seven seasons of hard work and excitement, big fella. :(

Oh well, the "rebuilding process" has begun. Get rid of Asdrubal while you can, find out what talent Addison might fetch, bring up the kid infielders and let's have some late season out-of-the-hunt fun, Amazins. Wilmer deserves to play everyday, anyway, and we're still having injury problems - Rivera goes down with UCL the same day Walker and Nimmo return from freak injuries/medical issues. ::facepalm::

I may file a wrongful death lawsuit against the Cubs baseball team. Starting with the three game trouncing the Braves received from them ,my boys have spiraled into a bumbling ,hapless group of losers. Defeated tonight by the Phillies 10-3 :x . ::sotb::

IMO the Cubs outplayed the Brewers tonight BUT they had one of those nights when they hit 'em where they was and not where they wasn't.
Several balls were just one spoonful of Wheaties shy of going into the stands and died on the warning track. The best part of the game was watching Ryan Braun crash and burn. ::ds::
