Are There Any BASEBALL Fans On The Forum?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Cubs did much the same thing. Scored on the Nat's in the first inning and there it stagnated for the next seven innings. Scored one more in the eighth, then three in the ninth. Went into the bottom of the ninth, up 5-0 and almost lost it. Finally won 5-4. ::facepalm::

Adrian Beltre's 450th career home run in the 9th inning broke a 1-1 tie giving the Rangers a 2-1 win over Cleveland. Beltre is now in 39th place all-time for MLB home runs hit. The guy continues to amaze. ::groove::

If I could get two big wins from the Cubbies and two wins from the Baves tonight and tomorrow night, I would be a happy camper through the break. :D

Tony I would have to agree with you buddy. That's pretty disappointing when you've got a good team and can't keep them healthy.

What's worse, we're going to end up wasting the first 50 or so games of Amed Rosario's big league career on an also-ran spot in a division we should easily be competing against Washington to win...

I hope he's more interested in getting necessary experience than chasing a title before he's even out of proverbial diapers. Our infield has been enough of a soap opera already this year.

The Cubs. OKAY? Cincinnati blanked the Cubs. Three hits is all the Cubs got if I remember correctly.

  That was what I was going to tell you. Lately the Cubs have been winning every other game (except for the two in the middle of that Nationals series) so that gives the Reds the series. Shocked the heck out of me they took two from the Nats.

Jerryd it appears that the Cubbies have developed the same resistance to the .500 mark that the Braves have, beat the teams you shouldn't to get close to the mark then fail miserably against teams that you should beat to fall below. The Padres, a poor team broke the Braves series win streak but they are back on track today with their second win against the A's securing another series win. ::ds:: I think. Two with the Astros then four with the Nats. ::teary_eyes::

Cubs lost again today. That should make Ferg happy.

The Cardinals are blanking the Nationals 2-0 in the top of the ninth. Three outs to go.

Edit: Cardinals tried to give it away. Ended up getting the last out on an umpires gift (he called that last pitch a strike and it was just a bit outside) with the bases loaded 2-1.

Cubs are making a lot of non-fans happy.

After that comeback win against the Nats, I thought we might be on to something but... Nope!

Let's hope they can at least avoid the sweep. I'm not expecting anything out of them this year but it would be nice if they could hang around .500 for the rest of the year.

Has anyone else noticed the number of teams that are at .500 and below in the National League at this point? The only strong division is the west. It could be a really exciting sprint to the finish for whomever gets hot in the second half ::nod::

::shrug:: Until the owners of the Reds decide to spend a little money for pitching and release their sore arm pitchers they will continue to wallow near the bottom of the league. You cant as a team depend on kids from the farm teams to be Cy Young quality, until they've had time to develop. ftd

I will continue to blame the revolving door to the disabled list.

Mets injury-ravaged starting pitching is the chief story and inconsistent/sometimes inept long relief (like every other year, it seems) is the subplot.

The offense is there. The outfield depth is there. The role players are there. deGrom is an absolute top-tier stud. Now it's time for the rest of the million-dollar arms to get, and stay, healthy. ::disgust::

They may have the worst record in MLB but at least they beat the Mets today. (Sorry Tony. Sorta.)

Wow! What a thriller that was. The Braves take game three in 12 innings 4-3 from Oakland to complete the sweep. ::ds::

Jerry

Normally I would take great joy in watching a winning contest with the Mets and I am pleased they won. But the Mets.......they are so beat up I can't take much joy with it. Rubber match tomorrow.

No worries, Jerry. Far as I'm concerned in baseball you're gonna win 1/3rd of your games and lose 1/3rd of your games. It's what you do with the middle 1/3rd that makes the whole season. I'll take a series win any time, especially with half the team on the shelf. ::nod::
