Bravos take the final game with the Nats with 2 in the 12th inning 5-3. This is the first series of the year that the Braves have lost. Impending showdown with the Cubbies this weekend. I hope it doesn't snow up there Jerryd.

9 wins in the first 10 games. Up 4-1 late against Miami. Thor and the boys are looking dominant.

Re: Are There Any BASEBALL Fans On The Forum?
Nice collection of bobble-heads! The ones I get end up going to the grandkids, except for a Stan Musial in his unique batting stance that I've had for years, and an Adrian Beltre with removable helmet (so you can touch his head ) that I got a couple of years ago.
I had kinda figured this wasn't going to be a good year for my Rangers anyway, but it has turned into a disaster already. DeShields (wrist fracture), Odor (hamstring), Fister (hip), and now Andrus (hit by a pitch - pretty sure it was intentional - and fractured his right elbow) are already on the DL! That's the lead-off, number two and number three hitters in the line-up, and the second best starting pitcher on an already suspect staff. And the season isn't even a month old.

Re: Are There Any BASEBALL Fans On The Forum?
d'Arnaud shelved for the year. His UCL is bad enough to require Tommy John surgery. Yes, he's a catcher.
I'm not particularly superstitious but this does not feel like a good omen given the team's recent history...

Phils have a series with Tampa Bay at TB so AL rules. Took the first one in a close game. Jake Arietta goes today against Archer. The Phils a nippin' on the Braves heels.

Holy Toledo, what a come back. It was cold. It was rainy. The wind was blowing like a hurricane and the Cubs were down to Atlanta 10-5 going into the 8th innings. Scored 9 runs in the 8th and ended up beating the Tomahawk Chop Boyz 14-10.

Indeed it is. 44 year old Bartolo Colon out-dueled Verlander and took a perfect game into the eighth inning before finally giving up a hit. Rangers beat the Lastros 3-1 to win the series!edge213 wrote:Crazy game Jerry.

Watched that. Colon is a calm, gum chewing, monster on the mound. As soon as he walked that guy, you knew his no hitter was just a dream. You can thank that old Cub closer, Hector Rondon for the win. I was very happy to see him in the rearview mirror.

The Bravos host the Mets for four in Atlanta starting this evening. This could give us an early season read on the power in the east.

Losing the series to Washington was the wake-up call the Mets needed.steve99f wrote:Should be an interesting series Greg for sure. The Mets need to be taken down a notch.
Thankfully the bats came back to life in game 3 and we stormed back from an early deficit.
Gonna be an interesting few games this weekend. GO METS!!!

Hoskins just hit his 3rd dinger for the year. 1-0 Phils over those Buco's. The middle of April, all the players are dressed like November.
Make that 4 to zip. Phils score 3 on a bases loaded single, Buco's asleep.

Re: Are There Any BASEBALL Fans On The Forum?
You know it, Steve.
We've already got our top two catchers on the shelf and d'Arnaud is done for the year (maybe more) with Tommy John surgery scheduled. I ran across a blog post titled "The Mets have a catcher problem" online the other day and snorted, then just closed the window. That's a NO S*** SHERLOCK situation there.
Our pitching is pretty much as advertised and the rest of the bats are doing their job. I'll reserve the Casey Stengal "My Amazins" face for later in the season if someone super critical goes down.
