Rivera just earned his paycheck! ::tu::

Rut-Roh!! Lester is now throwing HR pitches.

Man!! Rizzo is just on fire at the plate! Hits a bases loaded Triple, gets 3 RBI's and has 100 RBI's for the season now. He had 109 last year. In the last 7 games, he is hitting 0.480 !!

14-12... Final score over the Braves. (ya, 26 runs total... can you say: Little League score?)
To sum it up... the Cubs offense, luckily outperformed their very poor pitching and questionable defense. My goodness this was hard to watch!

Let's hope Montgomery can prevail tomorrow. And come on Nationals. For Pete's sake, get it in gear. Cubs are doing their part, now you need to hold up your end. :x

Well the Braves strategy worked again. Let the opposing team wear themselves out by letting them score all the runs they want in the first two or three games of the series, then take em out in the finale. :D Thanks for throwing us a bone Cubbies.

Three outta four is better than the Cubs had been doing. There's no time to cry over one loss. Gotta move East and get ready for four with the Pirates. The Pirates are always a pain in the tuchus for the Cubs.

Greg, it's time for Cowboys and Indians! The way the Rangers have been playing recently, the way to beat them has been to hope you can get to their bullpen without being so far behind that you can't catch them. They've been scoring runs and getting big leads, but their bullpen is horrible - no lead is safe! ::facepalm::

Sorry you'll miss getting to watch Adrian Beltre. He's out with a strained hamstring.

Wow Ken Beltre gone leaves a big hole to fill. The Braves are in training mode at the moment. I've never heard of some of these guys that have been playing lately so you never know what you're gonna get. One game under .500 at the all star break and they have gone south since then. I think the fans are really getting a belly full of this management's constant rebuilding strategy. Ah well another wait till next year.

This doesn't look good Dave. First Baez now Arieta. I hope the injury bug isn't about to bite the Cubs.

12 - zip ::facepalm:: I stopped watching in the second inning. I could see where it was going so I picked up my book and read, glancing up now and then to monitor the progress of the downward spiral. I got tired of one on base and two out, oops ground out. Hit the dugout and get your glove. Actually there was still a small amount of hope up through the 6th.

Greg,
I think it already did. Russell is out, Willson Contreras, Javy Baez and now Jake.

But they were still winning and with big scores without Russell and Contreras. The loss of Baez's fielding (most of the time) may be missed. Not sure how the loss of Arrieta will effect the team. Whadda yu think Dave? You pay closer attention to stats & stuff than I do. I'm just an observer.

I thought they were ok until Javy got hurt Sunday. Freeman is in there, the chemistry is way messed up now. They need to will power this thing through or we are going to have a bunch of L's quickly. I think they are mentally messed up right now with Jake going down. They were feeding off of each other and now that is gone. I've got a bad feeling about this.

Right now, the best thing that could happen, is to get Willson and Javy back. Hope for the best with Jake. He's got 5 days to recover.

Greg, if they hold true to form the Rangers have scored all the runs they're gonna score tonight. And the bullpen is in, so it's up to the Braves to catch them, which they just might do, given the bullpen's past performances.

Ken

Edit: The reliever the Rangers used tonight to finish the game was Nick Martinez. He's in the starting rotation! You should file a protest!

I turned it off after the 3rd inning.

We just don't have the pitching we had last year.

I'd take a drubbing like that any day over what happened to the Rangers today. They took a 1-0 lead over the damnYankees into the 8th inning, and ended up losing the game 3-1. Cashner left the game after the 7th with a shutout, but once again the Rangers' bullpen blew the lead. ::paranoid:: ::dang::

Congratulations to the Nationals. First team to clinch their division this year. It's quite an achievement even though it's a weak Division.

Cubs were first to clinch last year but they didn't do it until 9/15. Portents of things to come??

Time will tell, Jerry. The Nats don't have a good track record as far as October is concerned. Maybe things will be different this year? ::pray::
