Great stash you're sportin' there. Sure wish I looked as good in a hat as you do.

Re: what do ya'll look like?
It's one thing to "type and talk" to people on AAPK, don't get me wrong it is great, but it is totally beyond that to meet them in person and talk knives. I had the opportunity to meet Sundog at the Sioux Falls gunshow this weekend as we are both from the area. 1200 tables of guns and knives and related to see. We snapped this portrait while at the show. I know I left a pile of "coin" behind at the show and came home with some good stuff!!!

Re: what do ya'll look like?
Mr Grumpy, are you in U.K. ?
The stone fences must be from at least 100 years of rock picking, maybe even 1000 years as more rocks keep showing up.
Are those air rifles ? shooting a .177 caliber pellet ?
How come no picture of your dog ? if in U.K., ya gotta have a dog.

Here's a picture of my new knife, a used & sharpened HanWei Da-Dao, a lethal battle sword, weight is forward, angular momentum is decapitating.
I was careful to not drop it on my feet.

Re: what do ya'll look like?
kj, HanWei makes very good stuff. I am confident you have a great and serious blade.
Re: what do ya'll look like?
Where did you pick it up. Looks like something off 'forged in fire'. That is awesome.kootenay joe wrote:Here's a picture of my new knife, a used & sharpened HanWei Da-Dao, a lethal battle sword, weight is forward, angular momentum is decapitating.

Re: what do ya'll look like?
HanWei is a very high end sword and knife maker in China. They reproduce swords from Japan, England, France, etc., forged by sword makers and fully functional. In fact the HanWei swords are some of the very best made anywhere, world wide.
If you look up Da-Dao you can read the history of this short sword and why it is such a lethal weapon. It weighs a couple of pounds and is almost shaving sharp, full length.
You can buy a new one for about $220.

Re: what do ya'll look like?
Mr. Chen, the founder of HanWei [originating in Taiwan], now retired, unsatisfied with the Chinese steels developed his own steel formula and production facility. His son studied for at least three years in Japan as an apprentice to the man considered to be the finest swordsmith in the country.
The Hanwei sword I am holding is an exact replica of a custom sword made for a Colonel during WW II. Most of the Samurai swords produced for the military of the day were mass produced and of a much lower standard. The handle wrap is brown as that is the color for a colonel, differing ranks having different colors.

"Quick Steel" could be the name for your HanWei sword. Thanks for posting. Do you have a picture showing entire sword ?
