If I were still gainfully employed I'd be having the day off to celebrate President's Day, I sure miss my days off.
Scott, what Jerry said! Hernia repair has come a long way since I had one repaired around 1980, I was in the hospital for several days and got 6 weeks of workman's comp time. My son had a similar repair a few years back and it was done "outpatient", rest a day or so and back to his office, light duty of course.
Happy President's Day to y'all!

Yes Sir, retirement sure ruins holidays. And it ruined Fridays too. Now it is 6 Saturdays and 1 Sunday a week. I guess the sacrifice is worth it though.

I had a blued mini 14 back when that would drive tacks.
Got a stainless one years later that wouldn't hit the side of a barn from the inside.
It's ALWAYS something. The vacuum motor in the floor machine quit. Found the reset button once the tank was empty and I was out in the daylight. The buffer tossed the pad again.
Picked a handful of off the backing plate and used a new pad. Fortunately it restarted.
Finally got the floor looking pretty good. 5 hours and 7 minutes today.

Mornin' guys. I have to chauffeur a friend and his bride to get their eye checked and dilated this morning. I have a feeling it will take a large part of the morning.
Hope you all have a good day. ::tu::

Good morning. We got another half foot on top of the half foot we got yesterday to push out of the driveway before I go to the neighbors to work on his bathroom and laundry. This afternoon I have a Dr. appt. to keep getting my pills so I can relieve myself without dancing or running to the washroom 10 times a day. The old one specialist I've been going to retired about the same time my regular Dr. and the surgeon that did the only two surgeries I've ever had retired. The appt today is with a lady. I'm not sure how I feel about that. My tax mam and dentist are about all the pro's I depend on that are left, and the tax man isn't doing all that well. I have less confidence every day in the generations after mine to do anything half way decent and these kids planning a march on Washington next month aren't doing anything to raise the confidence level. Oh well, I'm off into the cold to do my part in fixing the world, even if it's only someones bathroom. Have a great Tuesday. ____Dave

Good Mornin', Men.
Scott, sounds like you may be on to something interesting! Good luck with that. ::tu::
Our weather is very pleasant. For several days we've had lows in the low 60's and highs in the low 80's.
Dave, you said a mouthful about confidence in the later generations. ::hmm::
Whether you're going to work or just helpin' friends, have a blessed day!

Hydy ho y'all. 4.25 hours and several minutes today.
Was a new hire this morning that I was to teach floor machine and buffer to.
He is 71 years old so I don't think a complete replacement for me.
According to someone who would know it's probably that I work 6 days a week.
She figures he'll get 2 and I'll get 4. It would be a drop in bring home money but if it is to be there ain't anything I can do about it but take it.

Scott be sure and post pictures if you score!

good morning, yesterday at 5:55 pm. I emptied 2 and 3/10th inches of rain from the rain gauge. It is now 28 degrees and the deck and all is a sheet of ice. Hope it warms up as I put the sidewalk salt in the barn.

Good Wednesday morning. Scott, I had one of those nights too. Third time up and tired as can be but no sleep for until a nap later. The Dr's. appt. yesterday went well and I don't see her for another year unless something quits working. The job I was planning for today got postponed when the guys live-in girlfriend's mom died from a sudden heart attack. I checked on another job and they will be ready in a couple weeks. On a positive note, a job for this summer which is a good sized garage with a finished off upstairs got bigger with work on their cabin added and on the way to meet with them, I stopped at my favorite junk shop and he had a Finnish Puukko and a Case 6265 SAB XX that both need attention. The Puukko just needs cleaning but the Case is missing part of it's bone and has been poorly repined. It's a perfect project knife with a ton of potential. I gave him $40 for the pair and I'll have way more than my moneys worth in fun working on them. Have a great day. ____Dave

Good Mornin', Boys.
I thought winter was over and global warming was returning. We're still running along with a low of about 60 and the high yesterday was 83 and y'all are talkin' about ice on the sidewalks and North winds. ::uc:: We have flowers blooming and I noticed one pond was almost covered with pollen. The pollen looks nasty but it is a harbinger of Spring. ::tu::
Miss Joy is having blood work this am and is fasting so we'll have coffee and breakfast a little later.
Y'all have a great Hump Day!

Mornin' guys. My best to you Phil. It is 35º here so I delayed my tomato planting by a few days. This afternoon I gotta back the old Rav4 into the garage and get loaded up for the Abilene show this weekend. Really lookin' forward to it. I have been in touch with several of my old home boys so it will be a good time visiting and maybe even sell a knife or two.
Hope you all have a good day. ::tu::

Good Mornin', DM11, Philco and Scott!
Another beautiful morning in the Florida Panhandle! Coffee is ready, Miss Joy's still sleepin', the dogs took off after something barkin' every breath! ::shrug::
Philco, hope your appointment goes well!
Today we're headed back to Panama to get shots in my old shoulders, they help for a while, just puttin' off eventual surgeries, there's too much to do to be tied down with rehab. Couldn't do it during huntin' season and now gardenin' season is about to start, I've got the same excuse. The doc says, "One day you'll give in." ::hmm::
Y'all have a great day!
Mornin', Ray, you snuck in while I was a huntin' and peckin'.

Good morning guys. I'm running to the lumber yard today to get some prices and estimates for two jobs I'm hoping to do this spring. This retirement activity I've been engaged in the past few weeks doesn't create enough cash to support my hoarding lifestyle so I need to get a job or two rolling. I suppose I could start selling stuff, which was always the excuse I gave to Jane for buying it all in the first place, and I don't think she's buying it anymore. I could stop spending money too at least until the Janesville show. I say all this same stuff every year about this time just before the phone starts ringing off the wall. Pretty soon the snowfall gets people worried about snow load on roofs and that keeps me busy working and out of the junk and antique shops. I should do mine before that caves in come to think of it. Gotta run. Have a great day. ____Dave
