Good morning. Our dry cool spell apparently is over and the three painting/staining jobs we have are on hold. At least we have plenty of non painting jobs, but that doesn't help the ones who's jobs can't be done feel like they aren't being ignored. We might have picked up another garage to build so the summer is really filling up with work. It's beautiful outside right now. There is a big gun show this weekend at the convention center in Duluth Mn. so lets get this week moving. Have a great Tuesday.____Dave

Good morning everyone!! My wife's heart doctor called yesterday and wants her back in the office, didn't like something he saw on her stress test. So that's where we are going this morning. This afternoon I will be doing some more organizing with my knife cabinet. Temp will be in the low 90's with the humidity in the mid 50's and up. Be safe everyone and have a blessed day.

Good Morning. Currently 72° going tp 82° and its sunny. A few windows left to finish. Using vinegar water and old newspapers which work much better than paper towels or rags. UPS has apparently lost a package I sent to relatives. I'll have to see what, if anything, I can do about that. Take care.

Good morning everyone
David, I hope your wife will be ok.
It’s a nice day, finally. I’m outside having work lunch.
I’m trying to lose a bit of weight, so yesterday I made a big pot of vegetable soup. You name it, it’s in it! Turned out pretty good.
Now I’m hungry again!
Got to get at it -
Have a good and safe day everyone!

Hi, working on the first cup and a bite to eat before work. June is almost gone. Chance of rain and flood warnings. High of 90 today. Found some good mators and cucumber at the farmers market yesterday after work. Happy trails!

Mornin' David and mornin' to the rest of the group. It is 70º here this morning and the weather guys say it will only get into the 80s. I am betting it will make it into the 90s by the time all is said and done this evening. I have to make a post office run this morning and no much else on the day's agenda.
Hope you all have a knife day. ::tu::

Good Mornin', Fellers.
Apparently summer is here. Hey it's only just a few months until Fall. ::poke:: Got most of the mowing done yesterday, had another thunderstorm right at dark, very little rain again. Got a few errands to run in town this morning, hope it's a calm day.
Y'all have a good hump day!

Good morning. We are in for a beautiful day with sunshine and temps in the low 80's. We are still painting on the rental property. It was only suppose to be a one day job but the owner seems to be finding more stuff to fix each day. Have a great Wednesday. ____Dave

Good morning everyone!! Thank you all very much for your well wishes for my wife yesterday. She has Atrial fibrillation or AFib for short. Right now the doctor is referring her to a cardiac rhythm specialist, I didn’t even known there was such thing. Anyway we’re praying she will get the care she needs. Right now I have knives everywhere so I need to get busy organizing and putting them away. Stay safe everyone and have a blessed day.

Good afternoon everyone
David, I hope your wife’s trouble is easily controlled by meds. Even pacemakers are a very simple thing now.
It’s supposed to be storming, but instead it’s nicely sunny with a breeze. I can’t complain!
I’m grinding frames, so I guess I have so say, it’s back to the grind! ::facepalm::
Have a good and safe day everyone!

Good Mornin', David
Up a little bit early this morning. glad you got the place lit up.
Going to be hot here in the Florida Panhandle I'm sure, could use a rain. One sure way to get a good rain is to water the garden and the other, which happened yesterday, was for the County to grade the road. Odd how coincidences become "old wives tales". ::hmm::
Y'all have a wonderful safe Thursday!

Good morning. I'm hoping the "still before the storm" is an old wives tale because it's eerily calm out there this morning and the weatherman is talking severe storms for us this afternoon. We could use some rain, but not a gully washer. I just fixed the gullies from the last one. I'm not sure where we will be working today with the storm threat but we have a half dozen directions we could go today. Have a great, or at least a pretty good, Thursday. My expectations seem to be fading a little along with my youth which faded to a pale whisper years ago. I should grow a pony tail. ___Dave

Mornin' guys and gal. It is a warm and steamy 75º outside this morning and It'll likely get to somewhere in the 90s by the time this day is done. I am heading for Taylor for some Louie Mueller's brisket for lunch. In my never to be humble opinion it is, if not the best around, as good or better than the other two joints that get more attention.
Hope you all have a good day today. ::tu::

Mornin' fellers.

Been hot, hot, hot here the past couple days, actually read 101 in my car....
I'm tired already. Need a nap. I think I'll keep the boys under the big oak trees today and whittle or drive nails....no hiking today.

Man did I oversleep! Woke up with the headache to prove it ... ::disgust::
Suppose I was trying to make up for the lack of the last 3 days.
Some strong joe to clear the fog.

Nuttin' but laundry to do today ....

Going to 89°, mostly sunny. Otis the dog is back to visit for a few days. Got to pick up some hamburger, for me, not for Otis. Tho he might get a bit. He definitely likes bacon. But who doesn't? Stay safe.

Good morning everyone,
Dave, that makes me laugh! It’s kind of turned around - all the old guys have long hair and the youngsters have it very short. My ex had hair almost to his waist. Guitar player, of course. There’s more hair on the boys at the jams then there is on the girls! Mind you, the ‘boys’ all started rockin’ sometime in the ‘70s. ::shrug::
It’s cold, wet and miserable here today. The weekend is looking good though, and thanks to Canada Day hitting a Monday, it’s a proper long weekend! ::ds::
Have a good and safe day everyone!

Afternoon knifers, hit the ground running this morning didn't even have time to check in. David sorry to here about your wife's afib got it myself, take blood thinners to ward off strokes and metoprolol for it, so far so good. The ole boy jumps around a lot but I just put up with it. Probably end up with a pacemaker sometime ::shrug:: Had to get the son's driveway in shape after all the storms washed out some ruts in it, a lot of work caught up but I'm gonna take it easy the rest of the day. Whew I'm hotter than a festered boil. I hope yawl had a great day. ::handshake::

Both Louie Miller and Taylor Cafe beat the socks off those 2 places down in Elgin that get a lot of press hoopla. I've known Mr Mares at Taylor Cafe all my 64 years and knew Mr. Miller very well (all my life until he passed), as his grocery store was right next door to my parent's feed store. Both know/knew BBQ very well. Mr. Mares is still using the methods he developed right after WW2 using a 1920s book as a basis for his meats.

The 3rd top BBQ joint in Taylor was Rudy Mikeska's, 1/2 block west of Louie Miller on 2nd ST, where the current Corral Lozano is located. Rudy's was better than either LM or TC. After Rudy passed, his son kept it going for a while, but his BBQ catering side of the business took off so well, he closed the restaurant to concentrate on catering. He was getting catering jobs in Las Vegas, NYC and Washington DC, among the distant catering gigs due to music groups passing through Austin finding him. George W. Bush getting elected really spurred the DC gigs.

Rudy (no relationship to the Texas chain RUDY's based out of San Antonio) was 1 of 6 brothers who started up BBQ places in central Texas and spread from there.
