Just finishing this. Only a couple of short chapters left. Much better than I had anticipated. Boot Camp from the Drill Instructors perspective is a whole different world.

Re: What's Currently on Your Reading List?
I just finished reading this one by Rich Langston.
KNIVES OF THE HUDSON VALLEY. Lots of good information in here!
I learned a lot. Before this, all I knew about Schrade and other knife makers in this area was that I once had an Uncle Henry knife I was real proud of. (and I promise I did not take advantage of the "lost knife warranty") Y'all just do yourself a favor and click on the upper right hand corner of this page and buy this book!
You won't regret it.

Bought myself this for Christmas today. My wife says okay, but I have to wait until Christmas to read it!

I'm reading All The Gallant Men, written by Donald Stratton, a survivor of the U.S.S. Arizona.
As far as I can deduce, he is still one of the remaining living survivors.
He was burned over 2/3's of his body and escaped the ship by crawling hand-over-hand across a line thrown from another smaller craft.
He rejoined the Navy in 44 and served in multiple sea battles until war's end.
Sarah picked this up from a thrift store. It's a signed 1st edition in mint condition.

I’ve read almost the whole series plus her young adult novel “Virals”.
I’ve alway enjoyed science. The descriptions of the lab work and procedures really interest me. Tempe’s convoluted personal life is pretty interesting too!
Kathy Reichs is very much like her character. She has actually held the same positions and worked in the same locations. The result is that her complete knowledge of Tempe’s world makes everything believable and the story feels completely natural. Good stuff!
I’m too young to be this old!

I bought these two off of Lulu with my Christmas money. They arrived today. I have the first edition of the knife book but and expanded version never hurts.
I measure my collection by the ton.

Some great stories and great old authors and that anthology Cal.tongueriver wrote:Working on this 630 page hardback anthology of sci-fi short stories, edited by I. Asimov. Last thing of the day before the lights go out.book001.jpg
I have a couple books going right now, Dogspell looks like it will be be insightful and looking at some things from a different perspective.
Angels of Vengeance is the third or fourth book in the "After America" series. John Birmingham is a good writer, develops his main characters well and knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat. After America is by no means space opera but a classic post-apocalyptic journey. Journey presupposes a destination which is of course not stated, which may be the appeal of this type of novel; you have to go along for the ride to see where it ends.

Re: What's Currently on Your Reading List?
I finished my Christmas present book so Linnea sent me home with three of hers. I started with John Sandford and am about 3/4 of the way through it. It's the latest in the Virgil Flowers series. Love his books.

Re: What's Currently on Your Reading List?
I've read quite a few of Box's Picket novels.
Great stuff. Still have a few I haven't read. Gonna hafta dig one out.
I find I've been enjoying alternating between fiction and nonfiction. A book about Teddy Roosevelt and his days out west will probably be next. Then I may consider an offering from Box.

This is one of my favorite books in my childhood. An absolute classic in the adventure genre.
I have the task:
Guess which is the book from the illustrations in Bulgarian edition
