Granddad told us kids, "I'll give you a dollar if you can catch one of those guinea hens". Every time we were down there, for a little while, we would run ourselves ragged trying with NO success. A dollar was a lot of money back in the 1950s.

When I was young my mom raised chickens plus several other means self-sufficient food production. The chickens ran free around our house during the day and roosted in the barn loft in the hay at night. She kept a few guinea hens because she believed they ate ticks and other pests. Not sure if that's true or not.

It''s absolutely true, in fact guinea fowl is the most effective organic method of getting rid of deer ticks.

Pest control is THE reason I keep guinea fowl.

We have 5 males and 2 hens. I eat Guinea eggs but my wife won't. Guinea eggs are tough, takes a really hard whack to crack them.

The interaction between the Guinea cocks and the chicken rooster is entertaining. The rooster is very protective of his hens and tries to keep the Guineas away from them, daily stand-offs with displays of hackles and jumping up and down but rarely do they ever come to blows.

Funny you mention that. I came across this video on another forum recently. This Guinea is relentless....

Did a frame off to it in the early 90s.. Stripped it to the bare frame and then redid everything.. I run the wheels off it.. It was at one point a WWII Army car.. I got documentation as such.. When I got it, it was orange and an old Hot Rod.. Been in a few magazines and on tv twice.. Its a driver.. John :D

Corvette grill.. 53 Chevy grill surround molded in, 49 Hudson tailites, peaked rear fenders/hood.. And a few more mods..

Very cool, John. I don't know anything about cars but I do like the old ones and remodeled ones.
I like the visor. How do you get into it without door handles?
