Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
Here's a couple of spider pictures for your viewing pleasure.
This year there are more Golden Silk Orb Weavers in the woods and yard than I have ever seen. There are usually a couple somewhere near the house, this year they are everywhere. This one is in front of a sliding glass door that leads to the deck from the dining room. We have been watching her for over two weeks. We have not opened the door so as not to disturb the web. She is constantly repairing big holes in the web each morning as we eat breakfast. Last night I noticed what I thought was a leaf caught in the web that the spider was trying to remove. It turned out to be a Katydid. The spider dined on the Katydid till about 11am this morning and then dropped the remaining green wings to the deck. They are such an amazing critter! The common name for this spider is Banana Spider.
Treefarmer edit: Just noticed the tiny male spider in the top picture, he is above her body almost opposite where the Katydid's wing touches the spiders hind leg.

Spent a quiet Saturday afternoon cutting up a couple of weeks worth of cardboard. Have never found anything that cuts cardboard as easily as Cold Steel serrations.

A Worn Barn nearing its end.
Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
Yeah the top photo is a mixture of smoke and steam as it had started to rain on my way back home, the bottom photo I'd taken a short time earlier on my way to town is all smoke from the sawdust fires.doglegg wrote:Cool how you caught the steam BH. Barns and sheds a always interesting.

QS that is what I am talking about. Just a romance around old barns and sheds. Love it.

A pleasurable enough sun set that was the end of a very pleasant and balmy October evening here on the Cape.
As special as it is here my thoughts and prayers are directed towards the Gulf.

Roger, it’s a shame to see an expensive piece of equipment damaged / destroyed. I hope he has a way to harvest any remaining crops.
