Thanks treefarmer! Abby has the speed and unmistakable stride of a greyhound and all four feet are webbed. Should come in handy for when she trails a rabbit and finds it swimming across the creek and has to go fetch it. :D

Good lookin' dog you have there, too! She looks awful content in that second pic. ::nod::

And Dale, that little pup is just TOO cute! ::tu::

Well Garry, those cute looks can be very deceiving!
We are "camping" in an RV this week until Saturday and there are bunny rabbits all over the place and they are not afraid of people. Zoey is really showing her stubborn streak! She sees a bunny and she wants it, she is amazingly strong and actually pulled my off balance when I wasn't paying attention.
If she doesn't want to do something, like come when called, you pretty much have to go get her and bodily carry her.

She is funny, cute and sweet 80% of time; the other 20%, well, Katie bar the door!

Dan, you have a good looking GS, my favorite breed. May I make a suggestion? You might consider, perhaps already have, asking the vet for the 3 year rabies vaccination in place of the 1 year annual shot. There are valid reasons to reduce the number of vaccine shots. Many vaccines carry their immunity for years. A titer test will show if vaccines are needed. Of course rabies shots are required by law.

Thanks for the info Quick Steel.
He is on the 3 year program.
He enjoys being walked through the kennel to visit the other dogs awaiting adoption.

I am a firm believer that dogs take on the personality traits of their owners. So, if Zoey is a stubborn troublemaker, well... ::tounge::

And FYI, our pooch is a goofy fart machine...

Ditto what Phil said. 13 years was a good run for a dog of Conner's size, but if it was twice that it would still be too short. Cleo is a beauty.

Sorry for your loss Kris, both of those malamutes are beautiful dogs.
We lost Ole' Smokey, a Keeshond mixed mutt about 4 months ago. A shelter dog we acquired when he was around 4 years old. He had some issues with aggression towards other dogs when we got him but within about 4 months my wife had him trained into the most gentle dog you could know. Never had to worry about his behavior after that point and could have him off leash anywhere we went, and he went everywhere with us. He did nursing home rounds with my wife twice a week as she saw patients there. He is missed by many not just us but including all at the nursing home, my neighbors, my kids and grandkids, friends and even our neighbors.
Since then we adopted another from the shelter and named him Dusty. He's around 3 yrs. old, a blonde colored chow mix. He is very gentle without any aggressive behavior what so ever but needs some training to be off leash, kind of a flight risk so far. He has issues with fear and panic from some sounds like a car door slamming or a ball bouncing. Other noises like fireworks don't phase him at all. We've had him now for a few months and he's coming around with training and I think he's gonna work out, will just take a little longer than the last one did.

Here's a baby picture of my Zelda at right around 10 weeks old (she's a little under 2½ now). Even back then she knew she wanted to be a gangsta...sleep with one eye open.

It looks quite accurately built, Dan.
The hinged top is a nice touch.
Good job. ::tu::

A retired veteran Major League Baseball player lives a few miles from me. He has an air conditioned dog house in the back yard. No joke!

I was actually researching 110 electric dog house heaters. However there were just too many negative responses, even on the better models.

Perhaps a simple well protected heating pad would solve the problem.

John, I don't know if I've mentioned this before (having a "poor memory day" today apparently) but my last cat was named Smoky (no "e"). A rescue in the purest sense - one evening she appeared on my front porch as an adolescent, I opened the door, she walked in, and she never left! I don't think she was ever weaned properly because she had the weirdest habit of kneading and licking my shirt like she was nursing - but only when I was wearing a shirt. I never tried to cure her of that little quirk and she did it for her entire life. She suddenly passed away a couple years ago of an infection at about 6 1/2. The sweetest cat you ever could meet (and the polar opposite of my little hellion now)... This is her in her 2nd favorite pose:
