Every time I hear Alison Kraus I think, "I don't have to be in heaven to hear what the voice of an angel sounds like!" One of the most beautiful voices ever.
On a sadder note, we lost a great musician yesterday with the passage of Leon "Fiddlin Frenchie" Burke. Another much under-appreciated talent IMHO. RIP Frenchie!

I was a huge Linda Ronstadt fan back in the 70s and 80s (notwithstanding her politics). My favorite album of hers is "Linda Ronstadt" recorded in 1971. She sings mostly country songs on it, including some Johnny Cash, Woody Guthrie, and Hank Cochran tunes. Glenn Frey and Don Henley who would later form The Eagles back her up on most of the songs.

I've liked "Night Rider's Lament" ever since I first heard it by Jerry Jeff back in the 70s. I heard it started as a cowboy poem, which Jerry Jeff put the words to music and added the yodel as the song that "camp cookie" sang. He yodels more (and better IMHO) on his 1975 recording than on the live performance I posted, but he was a lot younger back then.
Lots of performers have recorded it since, but my favorite version is by Suzy Boggus.
