YOUR USER NAME
Re: YOUR USER NAME
Nothing mysterious about mine, it's my initials and the numbers were part of a set of numbers I used in the Navy. I really wish I could change mine like someone else said earlier.

Re: YOUR USER NAME
When I 1st saw your user name several years ago, I figured the 110 was in reference to the iconic Buck knife. David, you do have a 110, don't you?

Re: YOUR USER NAME
I hadn't thought of that, it must have went right over my dumb head. Yes sir I have a rather nice one, but the brass needs to be cleaned up some. It is a 1981 - 1986 model. I was at a flea market a couple of years ago and I saw it on a guys table. He wasn't there and a "friend" was watching his things. When I ask how much he couldn't tell me so I offered $30. He took my offer and I took my knife. Not sure if those two are still friends.treefarmer wrote:When I 1st saw your user name several years ago, I figured the 110 was in reference to the iconic Buck knife. Re: YOUR USER NAME
Hey Dave, my 110 looks to be about the same as yours. There are a couple of very clueless guys out in Cloverdale who are selling knives by the bucketful. I think they are airport confiscations. I got the Buck for $5
I got a very nice little Case for $2.50, the same model going on the Bay for between $90-$106.

I think you're right! When I worked at DFW International Airport I heard of the same thing happening from the contract company that picked them up once a quarter.zoogirl wrote:Hey Dave, my 110 looks to be about the same as yours. Re: YOUR USER NAME
I was Army Armor Branch. In my era we were using M-60A1s. A very good tank in its day. It had a commander's cupola which was very useful but that feature was dropped from the Abrams to lower the profile. Do you concentrate on WWII armor or other periods as well?

Hi quick steel, I mostly am focused on WWII, but will build the odd modern armor piece.

Hi Quick Steel, you peaked my interest. Would you mind posting some photos of your M60A1?
Thanks!

Military Scale, Happy to oblige. Unfortunately this is the only one I have available. We were doing night fire training In Germany. This was in 1967. If you ever have any tank related questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Yeah, it's one nice bike. I saw it at a bike shop about 3 months ago. Reallllly nice! Also there are a couple that I really want to own. Not enough money hanging around though. Or a license to ride em'

Re: YOUR USER NAME
You have to get a license. It's not very hard. If you can use a friends bike, use a smaller one at the test. Easier to maneuver. All 3 of those bikes are nice. I'm also thinking the Suzuki in the center photo is their attempt to bring back 70's/80's style bikes like this one. (Not my photo)Scale Military wrote: Or a license to ride em'

Hi! My name's Brad. When we were kids my little brother couldn't pronounce his r's so he called me Byrd. I'm 66 now and the nickname has stuck all these years.

Byrd is my mother's maiden name and back in the mid 1800's to early 1900's they were big settlers and land owners here in the North Texas area.

Re: YOUR USER NAME
I chose the handle "Reverand" because I am a preacher. I used to pastor a church, though I do not now (I often claim that I am a 'recovering' pastor!)
Years ago I played paintball a lot, and used this same alias on a good paintball forum. I am normally good at spelling, but after I chose it I realized it is supposed to be "Reverend"
When I started an account here I just stuck with the same name, and the same mis-spelling.
My real name is Scott.

Hi Scott! I'm a "recovering pastor" as well! Interesting profession it is (was).
