Today is a sad day in Northern Illinois. Got a call this morning from the son of one of my best friends of 56 years telling me his dad passed away at about 0600 this morning. He didn't show up for our weekly Thursday lunch so I called his granddaughter and she went over there & discovered that he had had a stroke. It turned out that he had also had a heart attack. Visited him (& all his immediate family) in the hospital yesterday. We could all tell it was just a matter of time. He just turned 80 a month ago.

Goodbye Robert Milani. You were good and faithful friend.
That's his son standing beside the bed.

Good afternoon to all. Jerry, I am sorry to hear of your loss.. Currently 69 degrees here, and on the way to 74/61. Feels much colder in the house. The threat of a tiling project looms (I detest home renovation). Will take some time to remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice this weekend. Y'all have a great day!

Good morning. Jerry, sorry to hear about your friend. It's so hard to see long time friends pass one at a time. It almost feels like they're all gone sometimes. The in-laws pulled in last night and everyone but me is sleeping in. church is a couple hours away and nothing planned for the afternoon except to meet briefly with a customer who's job we need to get on shortly. Have a great Sunday.____Dave

Good Mornin', Early Risers. Dave and David.
Another beautiful morning in LA, 61 degrees before the sun comes up. A little bit of fog this morning, we got to 85 yesterday.
Jerry, sorry about your friend, I just talked to one of my old Marine buddies yesterday morning, I got to know him in 1964, was in he and his wife's wedding, she passed several years ago. What Dave commented makes us realize there really aren't many left.
Got my mower to the friend who was the vocation school welding instructor for about 30 years, he will fix my broken bracket on the mower deck.
We have such an array of flowers blooming now that our hummingbirds have abandoned their feeder. One of our neighbors told us her birds have slowed down considerably.
Got the coffee made, Miss Joy is still sleeping. Church in a couple of hours.
Y'all have a wonderful Sunday.

Mornin' guys and gal. I am all scrubbed up and ready for services this morning. Jerry, sorry to learn of the loss of your friend.
Another hot day here. We really need rain badly. May is usually the month when we get the most rain.

Hope your day is a blessed one.

Went to Woodcraft store yesterday. They have woodturners turn pens they provide for donations to soldiers on Memorial Day. I turned four the time I spent there. This woodworking chain has done this for years. It’s a good cause and show of appreciation and thanks to our troops. Hoorah !

Morning folks, 55 heading to the low 80's sez Leland. Ole sol is showing his face bright and shiny.

Jerry my condolences to you and your friends family and friends. Lost a buddy last week that I went to church and school with growing up and feller VN vet. It's our time in the barrel we are dropping like flies that have been sprayed with DDT.
Well on a brighter note I'm heading to a celebration this afternoon for a first cousin that's turning 90 today.
Nothing else on the agenda I reckon.

I'm back up and have been for a bit. Might stay up this time. Up late last night for no good reason. Sure need a cup or two of coffee to get started. I'm off for the next four days. ::ds:: Ordered a Case Tribal Lock last night. For some reason it's caught my attention and have decided to give one a try. 76-91 sunny and breezy. Best hold on to yur hat or it'll end up in Nebraska. :D Happy trails!

Good Morning on this May 30th. Going to 81.

Good weekend visit with my sister who returns to her facility at noon.

Going to have a gunsmith look at one of my semi-autos to refine the trigger a bit. It has a pretty good trigger but I think it can be improved.

The local troopers stopped two women with a baby. In the car they found 1million dollars worth of fentanyl. This is becoming common as I-65 is a major drug route.

Be extra safe, especially if you are going to be on the road today.

peace & health

HAPPY HOLIDAY
Nice and cool 66 degrees going up to 85. I typically don’t do a lot if driving on holidays as I hate heavy traffic. Memorial Day, most people have home cook outs so I may take a long drive. Just a good day to get out. Wishing all the best. Have a Blessed Day !

Is everyone sleeping in this morning? According to the weather guessers it's supposed to hit 90º today in my neck of the woods. Going to fire up the AC & about noon, tune in to the Cubs game. It's a double header today. Wishing everyone an enjoyable holiday.

Mornin' guys and gal. Cudgee is among the missing this morning and for the last several mornings. Hope all is well with him.
We'll take the day to reflect at home today. It is 75º already this morning so I am guessing temps will reach to the upper 90s later today.
May God bless those who lost sons or daughters, husbands or wives or any family member defending our country and our freedoms. ::pray::

Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain, really raining. It is causing changes in Memorial Day activities. But we need the rain here so it is good. Some severe storms in places Then wind this afternoon.
Later this morning will hit the road to MN to daughters for a short visit. Oldest granddaughter graduated 8th grade. We didn’t go for the actual ceremony and big reception yesterday. Today so son can actually visit with his sis and nieces without a bunch of people around that he doesn’t know. They only get to see each other once or twice a year.
I promised muffins for breakfast so better get busy!
Remember those that gave all on this day and always.

Good Mornin', Folks.
Can't improve of how Ray commented on today's national holiday:
"May God bless those who lost sons or daughters, husbands or wives or any family member defending our country and our freedoms. ::pray::" So many folks don't realize the cost of this special day. ::hmm::

We are being blessed with another beautiful day weather wise and the weather people are watching something over in the Eastern Pacific that may work its' way into the Gulf. Hurricane season starts Wednesday.
Y'all have a great day and take time to remember why you have the day off. :)

Good morning. We are being blessed with thunder storms. It would really be a blessing if we needed rain, but still rain is a blessing at least until it starts killing people. Been there.(Rapid city, S. Dak. 1972 if my memory serves, many dead). I don't live by creeks anymore. This is just a thunder storm that will start the new grass seeds I tossed out last Friday unless they all wash down into the bog lake behind our house. Boy did this turn into rambling. We are off to the cemeteries to clean up wife's parents and grand-parents graves and then pick up some chicken and head to Jane's brothers for lunch. Have a great Memorial day filled with reflection.____Dave

Morning crew, enjoying a good cup of coffee this fine morning. Got out the Camillus WWII knives out to help keep me in remembrance this Memorial Day. Going over to moms this afternoon for a small family get together. 73-87 sunny and breezy. Happy Trails!
