down the rabbit hole

Post by tundrareef »

Hey folks, just signed up and thought I'd say hi. I'm located in Alaska and have had a knife collection since I was a kid. That is, I've owned quite a few knives over the years, never really considering it to be a collection. Not, like the saw collection....I think that's another forum.

Long story short, my neighbor is heading for warmer weather and is going through the purge and dropped off a box of knifes. Looks like I definitely have a collection now!

Nothing super special, but a good selection of different branded knives. I do have a knife collectors book, and nothing that seems to be big dollars or super collectable. Except one.

I'd never seen or heard of a wirejack until I came across this:

Anyway, I'm really not a knife collector. I joined the group to find out the value of the above knife. I'll take a peak around and post some questions about the knife in the appropriate forum.

Hi Jason! Welcome aboard.
Would love to see some pics.

Dad and the rest of us were stationed at Eielson AFB back in the late 60s. Wish I could remember more of it, but I do recall Dad taking us Trick-or-treating and the snow was deeper than I was tall.
Take care and God bless,

Welcome aboard Jason. Glad to have you.

Keep checking back. Maybe Skip (New_Windsor_NY) will see this. He has a thing for wire jacks.

And please post your pictures to AAPK so they will be available in perpetuity. If you have questions on how to do that there are instructions, covering several devices (phone, Apple, PC, etc) in the "Tips and Tricks" forum.

::welcome:: to AAPK, Jason!

I took some cellphone screenshots of your knife (hope that's ok) to post here for all to see. It does seem to have a copper blade with some kind of silver plating? ::shrug:: Skip is the "wire jack" guy, plus there are Schrade guys here as well. Hope you enjoy our site, stay and post more of your accumulation. We love knife pictures and talk. 😉👍

Welcome to AAPK, Jason. We like pictures here and prefer them entered as part of your post rather than a link to a third party picture hosting site. AAPK servers provide ample space. Here’s a link to how to post pictures on AAPK and other things you may find useful viewforum.php?f=98. Scroll down to find the instructions for your device. You can also scroll down to the topic “Cleaning” which contains links to advice about how to clean knives including rust removal and prevention. ::tu::

He (Jason) posted his wire-jack and inquiry here:
viewtopic.php?f=64&t=69826
I posted a link to the wire-jack thread so he could see a couple or few, copper blade
wire-jacks. Never heard a word, so....... ::shrug::
Here is that link:
viewtopic.php?f=35&t=3137&start=435#p848105

I'm pretty sure that Jason's wire-jack does NOT have a copper blade.
