Hello AAPK world
Hello AAPK world
I stumbled on your site 4-6 weeks ago, have been viewing it more regularly and decided I needed to sign up. I live in south central PA with my lovely wife, two of our children and a German Shorthaired Pointer. I am attracted to anything with an edge, but seem to always be looking at doctor's patterns first. It seems everyone likes photos so I have included one with a couple of docs (if the small ones can be considered such). I am impressed with the willingness you guys share your knowledge and look forward to learning more and sharing if I am able.

Welcome to AAPK. Glad to have you aboard.
That's a fine pile of Docs you have there. Doctor knives were my first love and I'm still drawn to them but haven't actively pursued them in quite a while. After seeing your accumulation, I can feel the juices starting to flow again. I'm especially drawn to the Colonel Coon and the S&M but they're all fine examples of the cutlers art.

Welcome Sir, a friendly bunch here and unlike other places, 'you can keep your own doctor'. A good looking group you have there.
Re: Hello AAPK world
WELCOME, Mr. Mailman !!! Like most of us you will be amazed at the depth of knowledge willingly shared among the AAPK members. And, from time-to-time you will see pictures of some spectacular collector pieces. Great doc collection. Hope you can maybe find some additions from the member stores.

I find Doc knives very cool - I've bid on some but never had one. I will have to fix that sooner or later!

I think it's Bulldog Brand Country Doctor and the handles are either Celluloid or acrylic. Same spatula blade and bar shield that's on my Bulldogs.gsmith7158 wrote:I would love to see more pics of the last knife on the right. What's the brand?

I believe you're right Jerryd. For some reason I thought it was an older knife than that.jerryd6818 wrote:I think it's Bulldog Brand Country Doctor and the handles are either Celluloid or acrylic. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
*treefarmer, I do indeed work as a rural letter carrier for the Postal Service.
*gsmith----jerryd is correct about the Bulldog in being more contemporary. Hopefully, this pic will show the handle better. If I remember correctly, it was referred to as purple swirl celluloid.

I don't know what the handles are called but they sure are pretty.EWMailman wrote:*gsmith----jerryd is correct about the Bulldog in being more contemporary. Hopefully, this pic will show the handle better. If I remember correctly, it was referred to as purple swirl celluloid.
The other one I posted is called "Bright Leaves".
I have a few more of the Bulldogs. I don't know what the handles on this one are called. This one is called Peacock. This one has pearl handles. This one is just plain old white handles.
