A new patient in this psychiatry
A new patient in this psychiatry
Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I'm from Bulgaria. It is a small country in Southeast Europe. My obsession is the old pocket knives. I came across the forum when searching for information about old Case. I apologize in advance for bad English.

Welcome to AAPK Eustace! The knife addiction may be beyond the abilities of psychiatry. We like pictures here, so show us some of your knives.

You're absolutely right, Ken.

Khubavi nozhove Eustace!
I know a very little bit of about 10 languages and Bulgarian just happens to be one of them. I said to Eustace "Welcome Eustace" "It's nice to meet you" "Your English is very good" and "Nice knives Eustace!" I'm sure I butchered the heck out of a beautiful language so my apologies for my bad Bulgarian.

Welcome Eustace! Tell us a little about the knife hobby in Bulgaria. Are there many collectors? Are there knife shows, knife magazines, etc.? Is there a particularly well known and respected Bulgarian knife company (sort of like Case in the U.S.)?

You have shown some neat stuff. Not sure what exactly you and Tom discussed earlier but that's kind of cool. Welcome from the Texas panhandle

Welcome. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of how knife collecting is in other parts of the world. I know some countries can be pretty restrictive, but know nothing about Bulgaria's laws or customs. ____Dave

Eustace, Welcome to AAPK! Thank you for posting picture of your knives. It is interesting to see different interpretations of knife making. For example, I noticed that many of the knives in your pictures didn't have bolsters - probably because they are very old.
The countryside in the background of one of your photos is very scenic.

Eustace, from San Antonio, Texas (home of the Alamo) to AAPK! Your English is certainly better than mine. We all have heard of Bulgaria. It's a pleasure and exciting to have you on board. Your country is beatiful and so are your knives!

This is a long topic. Bulgaria has a very rich and old tradition of forging crafts and cutlery. If you are interested, when I have some time, I can make a separate topic with a brief retrospection for the development of the cutlery in Bulgaria. If it is not against the rules of the forum, I can also give links to Bulgarian knife makers and companies.

If we are talking about the laws of carrying a knife - in the laws of Bulgaria there is no definition of "cold weapon"
We have a strange and incomprehensible cultural heritage law. What is a cultural heritage is determined by specialists serving in the Ministry of Interior (the police). For old blades, for example, up to 200-300 years, there are no problems, but if you own a Roman, Byzantine or Thracian weapon, you will be judged and you can go to the prison.
Thank you very much to everybody! I am sincerely touched by the welcome!
