Knife ID needed, collection? Handle material?

Post by Stuartlover »

Found this at an antique mall
1982 3 blade 6308 Whittler
What is the handle material color, looks like bone. Case collection name? Also has serial no 060. What collection was it from? Also, first time to see the c in a partial circle on the blade, what's that?

I can't answer your questions except to say that it does look like bone. The 6308 whittler is a great pattern, usually a very solid knife.

The knife has a blade from an overrun of a special order club knife, or it is a special order club knife. That’s where the c within a C stamp was used. Case did it so as to not have to make very small runs of blades stamped special to match various small runs of different handle cover materials. Sorry I can’t tell you any more about what special order it may have been - possibly had a blade etch when new that identified the club or organization.

There are several threads here asking the same question about that blade marking seen on various club and limited run knives - Colonel Coon being a commonly seen one, but not the only one. Here is a link to one such thread viewtopic.php?f=73&t=48922#p973496
