Re: Jay Bigler: His pocket knives
Thanks, guys, I'm glad you like that last knife. Here's the next one. Simple, too, but a little bit "fancier" with the antler handle. (The difference in color between the two photographs is that the camera's flash went off on the first photo.

Re: Jay Bigler: His pocket knives
This is a very early pocket knife. However, it is not signed, but its mechanics are like so many of those early knives -- very similar to Dad's other work during that time when he first began making folders.

Re: Jay Bigler: His pocket knives
Really unusual knife M.J. Would it be classified as a friction folder? Thx!

"Friction folder"... I had never heard that term before. I had to do a search to find out what that was. (Always a good day when one learns something new. ) Yes, I think you are correct. It is a friction folder. Here are more pictures showing more of the knife.

What a cool and unusual knife M.J.! Thx for the additional pictures. I am by no means an authority on friction folders, but due to seeing the extension of the spine that's what made me ask. Rare, cool, and unusual what more can you ask for!

Re: Jay Bigler: His pocket knives
Something a little different from Dad. He got the idea for the presentation box and knife from a manufactured knife that he had bought and added to his small collection of pocket knives. This is the only box that I know of that he made for a knife; however, once in a while he made wooden sheaths.

Awesome display of your father's knives, I'm sure he would be proud.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Thank you! Dad was not online, but I feel that he is pleased that his knives are being showcased on such a great forum, and he would be very humbled by the appreciation all of you have shown for his work.1967redrider wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 1:43 am Awesome display of your father's knives, I'm sure he would be proud.
