Did he assure you that the package actually left Knifecenter and if so, when?Dan In MI wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 5:37 pmAfter speaking with a customer service representative, it seems that the quoted statement was correct. He said that they have been having an ongoing problem with USPS not scanning packages as they are picked up. His advice was to give it another couple-few days, and call back if nothing has changed. USPS has until Thursday.
Lesson learned: when ordering from Knife Center, pay the extra money for FedEx or UPS!

As for me, when I ship, I've had 85% success! very little delay except in the South, towards the West of TX they down there can pose a problem, other than that, It's pretty good the only big downside, I sent an order to Australia, that took a month and a half!! and stick w/ AAPK! oh yeah I always go to the P O the Tracking # is ALWAYS put on the packages! I'm only 3/4ths of a mile from the P O lucky me!

I always go to the PO too. I don't trust giving a letter to my mailman let alone a package. It's like handing it to him and saying "Would you mind losing this for me"?LDF Knives wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 1:11 pm As for me, when I ship, I've had 85% success! very little delay except in the South, towards the West of TX they down there can pose a problem, other than that, It's pretty good the only big downside, I sent an order to Australia, that took a month and a half!! and stick w/ AAPK! oh yeah I always go to the P O the Tracking # is ALWAYS put on the packages! I've noticed that, too. My mailman doesn't always scan packages when I hand them to him. Other than that, I have no complaints about him. Better to just go to the Post Office and do it that way, I guess.
My Knife Center order still isn't out for delivery. If it ain't out for delivery tomorrow, I'll call back. The saga continues...

Re: Is Knife Center going downhill?
We almost never have the same mailman two days in a row. It’s someone different every day. I try to put myself in their shoes. If I had a truck full of mail that I had to deliver to hundreds of addresses every day, I might have trouble keeping track of outgoing mail too. At the very least, it would frustrate me to have to deal with both deliveries and shipments.Dan In MI wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 1:45 pm I've noticed that, too. I’m sorry to hear about your mail. Is it still on “Shipping Label Created” status?

Yes.

Yep, we used to have a regular mailman and we really liked him but it’s been somebody different every day for more than a year now.
Once in a while I will recognize one from a week ago but it’s usually somebody new or at least somebody I don’t recognize.

And this is what tracking shows now:
The ball was passed to USPS, and they dropped it! Yep, FedEx or UPS shipping when buying from online retailers, even if it costs a little more.

Australia can be a bit hit and miss, depending on how it is sent. I have had them take 6 weeks, and i had one parcel from Idaho take 6 days.LDF Knives wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 1:11 pm As for me, when I ship, I've had 85% success! very little delay except in the South, towards the West of TX they down there can pose a problem, other than that, It's pretty good the only big downside, I sent an order to Australia, that took a month and a half!! and stick w/ AAPK! oh yeah I always go to the P O the Tracking # is ALWAYS put on the packages! Re: Is Knife Center going downhill?
I can relate to USPS issues, not necessarily with Knife Center but another knife distributor. It was back around Christmas and apparently USPS reuses tracking numbers. The one they provided was for something delivered to someone else back before Thanksgiving. I did tracking through the USPS website, put in a claim, got a call from a local USPS employee and then the next day it showed up. Probably was kicking around in the back of someone's truck for a few weeks.
I recently received an order from Knife Center, one knife was backordered and I knew that up front. This order was placed in March but I could track the order status through the Knife Center website. When it said it finally shipped it took about a week to receive it.

Re: Is Knife Center going downhill?
Just FYI USPS delivers Express Mail 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Re: Is Knife Center going downhill?
USPS will deliver a package from your door to anywhere in the U.S. for $5, if you can beat that, more power to you.
Re: Is Knife Center going downhill?
what is the difference between UPS and USPS?
Re: Is Knife Center going downhill?
UPS , private Company, United Parcel Service. The brown truck outfit.
USPS. United States Postal Service. Government run .

It’s a fact that if you use EBay postage, it says it’s shipped even though you may have printed out the postage paid shipping label,on a Sunday or a holiday. Very misleading. On EBay purchases, I usually take the package to the post office, pay there (I live near a small “country” post office”) and then come back and email the buyer that it’s been shipped, the tracking number and estimated delivery date. Quite often I get an email back thanking me.

That’s what I do too. I couldn’t send the buyer a tracking number before that because I don’t have it until I leave the post office.tvic wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 11:20 pm It’s a fact that if you use EBay postage, it says it’s shipped even though you may have printed out the postage paid shipping label,on a Sunday or a holiday. Re: Is Knife Center going downhill?
I ordered a Vic electrician from knife center monday.
On tuesday I got an email with tracking number.
All week it said 'label created... usps waiting on package'.
I email them on thursday and reply said it was shipped monday.
It went from 'waiting' yesterday to 'out for delivery/delivered' today.
Took 5 days and it only had to go about 220 miles.
So, not knife center's fault.
usps just sucks.

That's not as bad as it was last year, when USPS needed two weeks to move one of my outgoing shipments less than 15 miles!BatJak 2.FREAKIN oh wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 5:21 pm Took 5 days and it only had to go about 220 miles.
I placed another Knife Center order this week. Paid for FedEx shipping, and had it in two days.
By the way, how are you liking that Victorinox Electrician?

Re: Is Knife Center going downhill?
I like em.
Probably the best utility knife ever.
I've worn out 4 or 5 over the years including the one this is replacing.
I really don't have any "beater" knives but I guess this would qualify.
It's my scraping, prying, digging, poking, drilling, reaming, take all the abuse I wouldn't use my Schrade USA stockman for.
I don't like loaning a knife to anyone but if I have to I loan this one.
I really like the second knife blade better than a can opener for what I do with this knife.
