I think you are right on that call. ::nod:: I think they have become collectible now with them younger folks. Old things become new again... ::smirk:: ::hmm:: It might be that song Elvis did years ago... ::hmm:: as I recall it was called; "In a Yugo"

As the snow flies

At a used car lot on the edge of town
A liberal guy and a liberal gal
Buy a Yugo
And they drive with pride

Cause if there's one thing that this world needs
It's environmental friends who'll take the lead
In a Yugo

They say, "people don't you understand
Those suburbans are ruining the land"
But they'll wish they had a full size van one day
They point fingers at you and me
They say we're too blind to see
But do we simply use our heads
And choose another way?

As those small wheels turn
Fifty miles to the gallon
And their knees on their chest
They're gonna save enough gas
For all of the rest
In a Yugo

Then one day on the interstate
They suddenly lose control
They swerve to miss a baby duck
They're squashed beneath a produce truck
But they drove with pride...

And as the crowds drive past a little flat car
You know they saved a lot of gas
But they didnt get far
In a Yugo

And as they're trapped inside
At a used car lot on the other side of town
A liberal guy and a liberal gal
Buy a Yugo....

And they drive with pride...

Just keep picking knives up , and dont count them, when you run out of places to keep them you now have a collection.

It doesn't really matter, it is whatever a person wants it to be. I am not a collector, just an accumulator/hoarder.

Being an.'' indiscriminate edged tool accumulator'' for the last 65-plus years or so, I believe that (somewhat altered)the old adage in regards to an alcoholic would apply here; to wit:'' One is too many and a million never enough! ''. JMHO.

Interesting question, never really thought of this. But I'm with others i suppose that it's not a number but rather enough to pose intrigue or focus, or to tell a story. I'm a tell a story kinda fella, and some of these stories get reeeeallly looong...

Hey everybody I am going to ask a serious question. I would like Jerry to chime in since he started this thread. I just took a picture of some of my knives on the left side are all Schrade 123ot’s and 524’s all the same knife. Is that a collection or accumulation? Right side is all lock back knives of different makes. Bear & Son Schrade, Buck,Camillus ,Western and some other brands. Is that a collection or an accumulation of 1 style or type of knife? I never really thought about this before. I have always just purchased what catches my eye at that time. I never worry about what make it is I just buy what I like and add it to the pile.
Just my 2 cents ::hmm::

I’m not Jerry, and I have difficulty being serious, but I buy the same way. With the possible exception of, there are some knives I like but can’t afford, so I don’t buy those until I save up for them (that doesn’t happen too often).
But up to 75 bucks or so, yep.

I could lay out two rows like that, only with stockmans. But I notice your left row is a little short, maybe you missed a couple down between the sofa cushions or on the floor of your truck?

This question kinda reminds me of, one time when I was a kid, after watching a western movie
with my dad, I asked him, “Dad, are we the good guys or the bad guys?”

He thought a minute, and replied “Depends on when you ask, and who we’re facing. We try to be good most times, but we save up our bad for when we really need it. Sometimes the difference is pretty small.”

So my best answer isn’t a number, it’s a condition. Knives I have scattered all over the cabin, shop and vehicles are just a gaggle. Knives I have all cleaned up and gathered into a location with similar specimens, those approach being a collection. Sometimes the difference is pretty small.

Parker,
I understand what you are saying, Growing up I had a friend whos Dad collected Parker shotguns. He also had a bunch of Remington and Winchester shotguns he used for hunting. He put it this way the Parkers are a collection. The others are users. ::uc:: Maybe we should look at it that way.

Based on new data just in, I have to adjust my thinking to THREE.

See, a few weeks ago it was just an Army cadet "Visconti Canzo" having an espresso at the cafe, then he met up with a Navy Sailor Coricama or "Spike" and they were a couple guys at a bistro hooting at passers-by, and just today they met "Stiletto" ... and became "The Italians" !

Nev, my dad named me after a Parker he wanted, but couldn’t afford at the time cause I was on the way.

Swedge, I like the spike. I’ve been a pretty devout stockman guy, but I splice rope sometimes and boy does the spike come in handy. Also for untying loaded knots.
