All About Pocket Knives

While most of us are prone to carry rather substantial sized knives for everyday use,come Sunday we have a tendency to downsize a bit. "Back in the day" as the saying goes, this usually meant carrying a small pearl handled knife with one or more blades and usually residing in a vest pocket hitched to a chain with a pocket watch residing on the other end.
Well now that our Sunday attire is a bit less formal,the small knives are usually carried in a small leather purse in our front pants pocket or if you are wearing jeans possibly in the watch pocket. This means that the size of the knife rarely exceeds three inches closed. The type of knife has also changed somewhat;the fancy pearl gent's knife replaced by a smaller version of our daily carry knives. Since many of us are wont to carry modern style lock backs in a belt pouch,a scaled down version of those has emerged. This post deals with that type of knife.
A couple of these examples slightly exceed the arbitrary three inch limit but not by much. I hope you enjoy this post and please feel free to add any you might like or own.

#5 & 6 I included this even though it isn't a pocket knife but a neck knife.I just like it.

#9 A pair of Timberlite folders.These lock by opening the blade and it slides back by spring.To close pull blade forward and fold.

The original post nailed it for me. I have evolved to carrying a smaller version of my edc on Sundays. First photo is my larger edc and second is a smaller version.

Thank you. Yes, both have brass and wood handles. Both were awards for me from Pacific Bell, circa 1984-85.

Interesting! The top one with bolsters front and back as opposed to the interframe isn't familiar to me.The bottom one is a Folding Sportsman 3(I think). The 97223 is the ZIP code for Portland.
I have several of the Folding Sportsman models as well as the Silver Knight and the Silver Eagle. I didn't include them as they are over my arbitrary 3 inch limit although they are nice Sunday knives.

An amazing palette of knives here (as usual from a record-breaking curator of such fol de rol). I don't carry small knives as a rule but I do collect them. The only one I carry is this little fellow on my key chain. I have used the scissors but not the other blades, so far. It was a gift from our esteemed Friend, Roland Procter.
