If you look at Jantz and the other knife suppliers the stuff handles are made of is indexed as handle material. I know this is funny, but I though handle material only becomes scales when it is actually put on the knife. As long as it is in the unfinished form it is handle material. Much like a fish would have an outer covering of scales so would a knife when it was finished?
