That's a great old jack knife, #goldpan.
It's always fun to find something new.

Great 'find' Godpan. An elderly gentleman with lots of character. He has good bones. ::tu::

Right on, Randy...nothing like "re-discovering" a knife you forgot you had. In a way it's even better than getting a new one...because it's already bought & paid for. ::nod::

Your discovery reminded me of one that I have that I'd kind of forgotten about as well. Mine's a different pattern but it's also a Hammer Brand made by New York Knife Co. If only they could talk imagine the stories they could tell. Lots of history in these little gems (some of which can be read about in Richard Langston's book, Knives of the Hudson Valley).

Nice going guys! Some treasures there. ::tu::

Coincidentally, today while rummaging around in a spare bedroom closet I found a box full of stuff I forgot I had. Well, I knew I had them, I just forgot where they were. ::facepalm::

You’re right - it’s as good as getting a new knife, but they’re already paid for. ::nod:: Here’s a few of them. None as old as those NYK beauties, but still glad to find them.

Thanks Ray. The Lockhorn knife, box and sheath, among other things was in a drawer in a locked Case display case I bought years ago. Not sure if that sheath is correct for the knife. It was loose in the case, not in the box with the knife. But it fits. ::shrug::

The fixed blade at the bottom was given to me by my dad when I was about 10 or 12 years old. Its stamped SAM BOHLIN GERMANY on the mark side and SOLINGEN on the opposite, and has an etched deer scene on the blade. Not worth much but it’s a treasure to me.

Nice knives W and Mpeg, but that OP knife is a beauty! Would love to have a knife like that “lost” in my collection.

You fellows don't have ghost in your closets but knives. Those are some top shelf knives. That Lockhorn has always been one that catches my eye and the knife from your dad, that is a treasure. Keep looking and I will keep enjoying. ::tu:: ::tu::
