Very nice! How old would you estimate this knife to be?

Re: Barlows does anyone else love them
You state you have little knowledge on barlow's, keep it that way, you don't need another rabbit hole to get caught in, it is a maze down there.
Re: Barlows does anyone else love them
Lovely handles!
Re: Barlows does anyone else love them
Really Awesome Barlow!
Goins list:
OAK (stamped on bolster)
"Sheffield England" is stamped on the blade.
g 1890-1900
I also, have never seen one.
I think the number of brands of barlows is limitless.

Just like edge213, I had to look that one up. A very nice HOK (honest old knife) barlow.

Re: Barlows does anyone else love them
I added another barlow to my group. It is a cheapie, but like new, and I like knives that are a little different. This one a Barlow produced by Providence Cutlery Company for Ric-Nor electrical supply. It is unused and like new. It has "Electric Mate" stamped on the bolsters, has a tang stamp of "Ric-Nor" over "Boston,U.S.A.", black plastic shell handles with a bail. The main blade is a Large Sheepsfoot blade and the secondary is a screwdriver blade and has a liner lock. Blades are tight, no wobble and has great snap. This is a cheapie, but a design that I think is neat, plus I like the history behind it.
Ric Nor was an electrical supply wholesaler. The company was formed in 1914 and went out of business in 1966. The knife tang stamps reads Boston, however Ric Nor was primarily located in Charlestown, Massachusetts. The Electric Mate was an electrician knife made for Ric Nor by the Providence Cutlery Company located in Providence, Rhode Island.

That’s a new one on me Smitty, never seen a Barlow double as an electrician’s knife. I like it and wonder why you don’t see more of this? Very useful knife for an electrician.

Appreciate it SSK. They pop up from time to time. Usually from like new to varying degrees of use.Sharpnshinyknives wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 6:17 pm That’s a new one on me Smitty, never seen a Barlow double as an electrician’s knife. Thanks Floyd. That's what makes this hobby so fun. Seems like there is always something different around the corner.

Re: Barlows does anyone else love them
Was about 60 years ago or so when I became fascinated with my Dad's Barlow knife/knives. He was a carpenter and favored Colonials because they were good but cheap. He felt the Case XX was probably the best but used them rough on the job and preferred the more economical brands.
So here is an accumulation of Colonials in the bottom row, and various at the top. Couple of Case '40-'64, couple of Imperial, American Knife Co (Japan) and a couple of Cargill side locks.
