Hey all. I was trying to date a group of Kodiaks that I just purchased. I have two of them narrowed down to a 1990 and a 1973 with the original box. For some reason I cannot find a date or much information on this particular knife. The front rang reads Case XX USA while the back just above the tang not in it reads handmade in USA. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.

Best I can tell is the stamp was used from 1965-1980.

If I remember correctly that would be one of the knives that came after the thumb ridges were removed but before the hand made in USA was moved to the tang. I think maybe in 1965. I have trouble remembering the exact order of the events but if you have Jim Sargents 7th edition American guide to knives and razors there's a complete chronology of the kodiak in the Case fixed blade section.

markings and alligator hide sheath should date it to about 1965.
Very nice and desirable knife

I really appreciate the replies! Unfortunately I do not have that book, but it seems I may need to pick one up.
