An S&M English Jack That Will Make You Drool

Post by jerryd6818 »

Some time ago, I was wandering around BF and discovered a picture of a S&M 042 129 F&W Series 3 Edition 2 English Jack that had one of the blades modified by a guy down in Missouri. I thought I had recorded his name but I can't find it. Anyway, I instantly fell in love with the knife and explored buying a second Series 3 Edition 2 and having it modified. That didn't work out so I kind of forgot about it until recently.

I was drooling through Risner's Schatt & Morgan listings when lo and behold, I ran on to a Special Factory Order the Risners had commissioned that was almost exactly like the English Jack I had fallen in love with. It comes in three handles and I chose the smooth white bone (I couldn't pass it up. How many times have you caught yourself say or thinking that?) It showed up today.

Here's the one that started this love affair.

Thank you everyone for the kind comments. You too could have one of those beauties simply by visiting the Risner site at http://www.traditionalpocketknives.com/ ... glishJacks

Joe, it's 4½" closed. It's a moose. Half stops on both blades, solid at each position and snap like a bear trap. I can't say enough good things about it.

Do I understand you correctly? Are you saying you grabbed one of the S&Ms? If so, which one did you get? I wouldn't mind having a 2OT to complete the trifecta (bit of an under statement) but my pocketbook won't cooperate. The S&M is going to have me on beans and rice for a while but I just couldn't pass it up. ::dang::

I took down my English Jack display yesterday and added the S&M. Had to rearrange it, the display is getting crowded. I need to either quit the English Jacks or get a larger display.

Those are just simply beautiful, every one of them, and the right size too!

But you do know, I hope, that with a display like that you have crossed the line from accumulator/hoarder to collector.

Jerry, what a beautiful display, that new one fits right in.

Yes, I ordered one of the white bone ones based on your post, love the blade configuration, can't wait. This is significantly larger than the GEC or Schrade.

John, I would be floored if you're not pleased with it. I'm excited for you.

Yes, Cuz, it's a handful. Right up your alley.
So you don't think the Camillus 72s pushed me across that line a long time ago????

Very nice knife - IMO it has the two most useful pocketknife blades with a Clip and a Sheepfoot - just a tad long for front pocket carry. OH
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark

Yeah, Colonel. It is a Hoosier but at 3½" this might be a viable alternative.

If something in a 4" closed length fits your needs more closely, I don't recall seeing anything like that.
