I've been watching eBay for sales on Case Classics, and it seems as though they are not in very high regard these days. I'm wondering if there is an "ebb and flow" for the demand on these knives. Anyone else have any comments or thoughts on this? ::shrug::

Not a lot of experience on Case Classics but I have consistently been disappointed when selling those. The really strange part is that the book or catalog that goes with them sold for outrageous amounts at one time. Seems like it was titled something like "Best in the Long Haul".

My thought is that the folks selling them think they are a lot more valuable than the folks who might want to buy them. Looking at Ebay, seems like most Case Classics are priced at over $140. I guess a man has to really want a Classic to pay that, and most men do not!

One thing about the Classics is that they seem to have been made to be collectibles. Certainly every one that comes up on Ebay seems unused. I have noticed that collectible knives do not seem to get more valuable like working knives.

I have not done any formal studying on the Case Classics, but I think it may be pattern specific. For example, the Large Stag Coke Bottle or the Stag Elephant Toe, or the Large 23 Pattern Trapper in Stag all seem to go for pretty big dollars. Even the 91 Pattern Cigar Whittler in Stag or MOP seems to have strong demand. But the bone handle versions of the same patterns do seem to be under appreciated.

Although the Case Classics are nice knives I look at them as Queen Knives, not Case Knives. If I am going to spend a couple of hundred on a Case you can bet it will be the genuine article and 1970's or earlier. OH

My take exactly ... the "Classic" designs are interesting, but I never wanted one that bad. Prices are bordering silly most times IMHO. Case "Select" series on the other hand ... there are some great deals on those I've found as I'm thinking most don't recognize what they are.

I agree. I have a user Anglo Saxon whittler. Great knife, but like you said if I'm going to put down $200 or more it'll be a XX era 6375.
