::welcome:: to AAPK, KM! That's quite a collection of ring-openers you have there, and I really like those single-blades too! Your truck is nearly as much a work of art as that table of yours, too. ::tu:: Glad to have you aboard!

Quite a man and a real character at times.

Big difference.

In boot camp, when we would hit the rack, the Drill Instructor would come in to our Quonset Hut to turn out the lights and we would say in unison, "Good night Chesty, where ever your are." He was still alive then but even though he passed in 1971, I think some still do it.

So I'm assuming you sculpt fish in bronze, not Chesty Puller.
Ha! I have in the past sculpted 'fish'.. currently I sculpt and sell 140lb. hot cast giant squid, octopus, and more. I also make tables...

Cheers,

Maybe I should have said "sea creatures' but I didn't think of it at the time. Do you know who Chesty Puller is (was)?
No 'Marine Life' suites me fine... Have no idea?

Hey thanks! That's great! I was born there in 60'. Thanks for writing, that sounds like a great job!

Did you know any McGuire's?

Hey Kirk, I can't say that I know any McGuire's. I do love the area though. I still have friends that live in El Dorado County. I live across the Lake from the Folsom these days and don't get up that way much.

Love the Willy's. My parents went through two of their panel trucks back in the early 50's delivering over 800 morning newspapers seven days a week.

Both were green. Wore out the first, traded it in for the second.

So, do you cast your marine creatures from life specimens?

I like the table. That's beautiful.

Charlie Noyes
Sorry just read this one! Yes they are awesome old trucks for sure! I worked at a foundry to learn all aspects of bronze casting.. I do not do my own however. I sculpt in wax and have the foundry I used to work for do my castings... I do not cast from anything live! I hand sculpt each creature/species.. Thank you for the kind words on my work. I have been making and selling them for over 32 years now.

Cheers,

Kirk

I didn't mean "alive". I meant from an anatomical specimen.

If you are sculpting those from scratch, you have a marvelous mind and talent.

Lol! Sorry Charlie!

It's just that since the beginning, (32 years back) I had people accusing me of somehow casting a real octopus, etc.! So it has been said many times.. lol
I can basically sculpt anything from my 'minds eye'.. However I do study films and various close ups in photos.. But everything, including positioning is from my head... Thanks for the kind words...
