I've posted a couple of these before but thought I would group all my "Matching Pairs" together.

Thank you "gwelker62"
I clean that blade very carefully, the etching is very fine.
Wish I had the rifle that shell fit in. ::nod::

Yeah, Dan's (Old Folder) humor is subtle but funny. I like it. He makes you think.

Hey, Dan. Do you accumulate Doctor Knives?

Thanks Yehuda & Garry;
When I took the "Pears" from the fruit bowl my wife followed me, she asked me why I wanted two pears. As I was trying to explain what I was doing with my camera, she just looked at me very funny without any facial expression, shook her head left to right, turned around, and walked away. :(

As much as I love the traditional Barlow, I have found over the last few weeks that the extra quarter inch or so on the 77 makes it fit my big meatpaws every so perfectly. I haven't been able to put mine back up...

This is the reason I only have the one I got as a new run through a dealer. ::disgust:: And probably the reason GEC won't be running more 77 Barlows any time soon. ::tear::

Bomba, what little business acumen I have would tell me that if something like a 77 Barlow was that popular, selling for that much over retail, then it would make good sense for GEC to make more of such a good seller, no? What am I missing here? Why is that why they probably won't do another run anytime soon? I don't get that.

That tells me more about you than any knives you've ever posted, than any words you've ever written. Good one Bro.

Supply and demand. I imagine GEC feels that if they were to flood the market with more 77 Barlow runs (or 15 TC Barlows, or 14 Lick Creek Barlows, etc.) that it would damage the secondary market so many of their customers take part in. If you've noticed, the 15s go for 250-300% markups almost immediately after they come out, as they're all essentially short run SFOs, and stay at that level for quite some time. If suddenly everyone could just reserve him or herself a TC Barlow with new yearly runs, the secondary market would reflect that with lower prices over time. GEC is smart and they know that many of their regular buyers are depending on those price increases to make their initial investments worth it.

As someone who just wants to buy and use GEC Barlows, it drives me nuts. But I've got my 77 and my 15 so I can be happy until the next "lolly scramble" comes about. ::smirk::

Here's a pretty close matchup.

A Robeson and a Case in a 3" jack pattern.

The Robesons bolsters are a tad thicker which makes the bone covers thicker which makes the knife a tad heavier.
A little too much information, but I'm not paying for the ink.
