Thanks Phillip! They should be here Saturday. I'll give a full report after the blade show.treefarmer wrote:Greg, I haven't been payin' attention like I should and will just have to echo woodwalker's comments about the knives you posted yesterday.
Beautiful bone on all of 'em!

Schrade Birdseye 835Y on the way. I kinda like the way this style looks. Big ole rivet heads and all..... There is a crack in the scale in one spot and somebody has scratched the day-lights out of the blades but not too bad all in all.
Why the heck do people think if they take sand paper to the blades and scratch them all up it will make a collector buy 'em quicker? Sheeeeesh.

Well, I did it again. I’m a sucker for a HOK, can’t help myself. So when one of my hands down favorite old Camillus stockman knives showed up for a price my cheapskate self couldn’t resist, I got that eyes glazed over look and pounced.
Bone handled Camillus 69. I’m hoping she’ll clean up nice.

Very cool, I have a segment of my collecting for knives just like that. I really need to work on them and rotate carrying them.

Wade I do believe she's sporting some Rogers bone handles. Please verify upon receipt.

Will do. Cuz and I have been sussing it out over text today. From what we can tell from the pictures it appears to be a long line stamp and that seems to be, according to JerryD, a rare bird.philco wrote:Wade I do believe she's sporting some Rogers bone handles. Please verify upon receipt.
Lots of maybes here. I’m anxious to get it in hand.

Yes sir. Tis my opinion it was made on the cusp of Camillus discontinuing the use of bone for handles in the late '50s. I've been of a mind for some time now that the long line stamp came into use a few years before 1960. Of course, it's all guesswork with Camillus.Colonel26 wrote:seems to be, according to JerryD, a rare bird.
Speaking of Case. This Wharncliffe Copperhead looked like it was going to be delivered yesterday but that turned into a big disappointment. Hopefully Monday. According to USPS Tracking, it shows leaving Palatine IL (my regional hub) early on Saturday morning but it doesn't show it arriving Rockford yet. (it's only about 60 miles)

Camillus sure made some beauties and that one has somehow come through the past ~70 years without aging a day. I'm droolin' on my keyboard.

That is a nice knife. I recently got a couple of Sta-sharp Barlow’s and was watching that trapper. Probably one of a very few left in that condition. Congrats.gsmith7158 wrote:I just jumped in my time machine and went back to 1946. I scored this Sta-Sharp Trapper.

Re: It's In The Mail
I made a final bid of $250 but somebody wanted it a little more. I'm afraid to think what I might have bid had that been a #72 or #80 deluxe in that condition.KnifeSlinger#81 wrote:Indeed it was, wish I could have got that one.Colonel26 wrote:I was watching the 69 myself. Oh wow! I did not look at the final bid price, that's a pretty penny for sure. But, when you get a knife that nice you forget about the money you spent on itgsmith7158 wrote:I made a final bid of $250 but somebody wanted it a little more. Yeah, you just don't get many shots at a knife that clean and pristine.

Re: It's In The Mail
Well it’s here. It ain’t near as pristine as the one that got away from all of us, but for $14 and change shipped it’ll do! And the more rare in bone long line helps too. It does appear someone replied the shield at some point. Looks like some ooze seeped our from under it.
