Re: It's In The Mail
You ever have one of those weekends where you see a whole bunch of knife auctions that you are sort of interested in, so you set-up what you think are reasonable bids - just under what you think the knife will really probably bring, thinking you might steal 1 or 2 of them?
I had one of *those* weekends, and now I have 6 knives headed my way!
- Case 278 Pen with imitation pearl
- Case A62009 1/2 appaloosa Barlow
- Buck 527 Gent lockback with walnut handles
- Buck 525 Gent lockback with plain stainless handles
- Queen 11EO Utility with Winterbottom Delrin (thanks bdev!)
- Queen 66 Muskrat with Winterbottom Delrin (thanks bdev #2!)
I still have 3 more pending, but I *really* doubt I will get any of them.

Yep, I'll do that occasionally..... 5 - $20 bids turns into $100 on it's way out of my pocket IN A HURRY.
Congrats on the new additions!

I lied - bdev got me for 1 more - a neat little Queen #14 Peanut with Winterbottom bone handles that I thought would go for higher. That probably means I paid too much - but I don't care - I can't wait to see it!

Nice one! I've made a rule that whatever GEC I buy will look like it was made in the '30s, which that fits the bill (though mine will likely be wood).

Re: It's In The Mail
Excellent pick up, Mike. The Camillus #14 is a great medium size Jack and I just love 'em to death. They don't normally sell for a lot of money (under $20) and it's difficult for me to keep from hoarding them.

I am really beginning to appreciate Camillus knives. I have very few right now but I think my collecting taste has taken a turn toward Camillus. I have 3 or 4 - 72's so now I am looking around at other styles that tickle my fancy.

Re: It's In The Mail
This Boker hunter is on its way to me. Not bad for a $10 knife.
It needs some attention. A good cleaning and some re-shaping on the main blade since the tip is missing. Looks pretty solid otherwise.

Let myself be suckered into another Camillus #14 (No. 11 for me). I'm betting it looks better in person.

I currently have four Canal Street knives stalled out in the postal pipeline. Apparently a chemical spill in Coppell, Texas has caused all forward movement of my knives to cease for several days.
Thankfully I'm dealing with a trusted fellow AAPK member so I'm not sweating it too bad.

It was a mercury spill. I think I read that it was 4 lbs or gallons (?) of Mercury.philco wrote:I currently have four Canal Street knives stalled out in the postal pipeline. Apparently a chemical spill in Coppell, Texas has caused all forward movement of my knives to cease for several days.

Re: It's In The Mail
I just hope that mercury didn't spill on my box of knives.
This takes me back to high school chemestry class where we played with mercury by pouring it out into the palm of our hands and watching it roll around like a little ball. How did we survive ?
