After spending 6 hours this morning driving back from the Youngstown, Ohio I arrived home to unpack, check mail, and there was a cardboard box of a certain size. You know the size. The return address was from our correspondent in HI, Q. My wife accuses me of buying more knives and I was at a loss as it was possible that I had. Opened the box and there was this beautiful mini trapper, antique bone along with the two smaller gifts, a marble and a jug. See picture. Beautiful, but I didn't remember buying this knife. Then it dawned on me, I"VE BEEN BOMBED! So i take the knife out of the box and as I do, I see something else in the box, folded up, a note from Q. He sent this, acknowledging his fixation with mini-trappers, and pointing out this one would match a mini -copperhead I had from SSK a couple of weeks back, a "mini T and a mini C", that's a quote!. And you will note that it has a particular kind of shield, a BOMB shield. Too funny. The knife is gorgeous and was very generous of you to bomb me like that Q. No better way to wind up a trip than this way, thank you. I'll treasure it. ::tu::

Congrats Steve, Q is the shrapnel master. Three great gifts there. I bet you treasure them. Congrats and salute to Q. That OCD monkey has a terrorist side and will sometime leave an explosive device. ::nod::

That's what you get for accusing me of being biased, Steve! ::sotb::

And speaking of accusations...I knew I'd hit the mark when I read this confession:
steve99f wrote:My wife accuses me of buying more knives and I was at a loss as it was possible that I had.
Gave me Deja Vu since that happens to be a frequently recurring theme in my home.

The match of the smooth antique bone Mini T & Mini C just seemed like destiny waiting to happen...all I did was nudge it a bit (OCD Monkey cannot abide loose ends).

Aside from a suspicious disposition towards me as regards knives, and I don't know where that comes from, she's the best. The two are a good match and I have a third too a Tribal lockback in antique bone and bomb shield. That is some pretty bone without jigging. The mini T looks great in it too and I am partial to that model, just not to the same extent as some.

Thanks again Q, very thoughtful and much appreciated. :)

This is just an observation and my humble opinion. In today's political climate, due to a wide variety of violent acts that have occurred in the past, recently and probably in the future, do you think it wise to use the word "BOMB" in any context? Phrases like "I got a bomb in the mail" or "I'm expecting a bomb" or " thank you for sending me a bomb", etc., etc., could be misunderstood by anyone not familiar with the way you are using it. I don't know about you, but I don't know who the "guests" are or who is "hidden" on this site at any given time. Wouldn't it just be easier to use the word "GIFT" or "PRESENT" or even "FREEBIE?" I just think it could and would save someone a whole lot of potential headaches and possible legal trouble. I'm NOT paranoid, I'm just cautious and it has served me very well over the years. Again, just my opinion.

No offense intended to your sensibilities but I for one will continue to use the word "bomb" to describe an unexpected gift on AAPK. It's a long term tradition on AAPK and I'm just a traditional kinda guy. Others are certainly welcome to use what ever makes them feel warm and fuzzy.
