Spring assisted openers

Post by Paul Z »

I don't recall where I saw it, but I recently saw an ad for spring asisted knives. Could someone explain this . I know how switch blades operate, but have only recently became aware of the term "spring assisted" knife.

Thanks in advance,

Most knives that are deemed "Spring Assisted" require you to begin the opening manually (e.g. push a thumbstud, or a "Flipper") before the assisted mechanism (some type of spring) takes over the action.

An auto is USUALLY activated by pushing a button on the scales.

Kershaw (Ken Onion), Meyerco (Blackie Collins), and the "Cudas" by Camillus (most by Darrel Ralph) are common "Spring Assisted" models.
